... launch, but such is the price of progress!

The guides and pretty much everyone you talk to at any level speaks with the kind of pride about their role at NASA as if you were speaking to John Glenn or Neil Armstrong. I found that attitude permeated every level of employee at the KSC. I can only describe it as a reluctant "Aw shucks, yeah I guess I am hero after all" kind of mentality. Endearing in an actual astronaut that sat atop 3.5 million pounds of propellant in ...

... they had a rocket there during the tour.
Before we left we rode the Shuttle Launch simulation ride which simulated an actual launch into space. This was amazing and it will definately be the closest I will ever get to going into space. I felt like I was in the movie Space Camp hehe.
We ended the night with a walk along the boardwalk at night and then pizzas and a swim in the pool. This is the life. ...

Today was a long day for us. We drove to Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. On the campus are several sites I selected for us to see. First stop was the Botanical Gardens. There is a self guided tour of more than 200 palms, bamboos, and other rare and common botanical specimens. We saw the original 1883 school house of Melbourne which had been moved to these grounds.
