Not directly in city center, but the bus stops right in front of the hotel. We had reasonable rates, for one night's stay. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had the double room, and one room was very small, but the other was average, at least. The bathrooms were small, but worked properly, so how much space do you need? The hotel was very clean. We had the breakfast and thought it was 8 euros per person well spent. We would stay here again.

We took a trip to Salzburg while the girls were here over Christmas Vacation.  It was a first visit for all of us and a place we would be very happy to visit again. But that seems to be the consensus of everyone, when we told them we were going there, everyone agreed it was a good idea. It's a lovely city that has finally embraced the fact …

... t remember it ever being on TV before... but perhaps because the cast had recently been interviewed together and that was part of the package. We had it on throughout the afternoon, and it was a great way to while away a quiet NYD. I sought out the DVD after that, to no avail at the time. As luck would have it - this being the 50th anniversary year - new DVDs were produced - so I picked one up a couple of months ago. I think I'll watch it on New Year's Day. :) When I was going ...

... they consider this area to be German as far as booking goes. Got myself oriented to the city and the countryside. One of our stops was Hellbrun Palace, and had a wee look at the grounds and the gazebo from the Sound of Music. I will see more from that bit of pop culture and history later today, as I am going on the Sound of Music tour. I had to do it. I might go back to Hellbrun if time tomorrow (my last full day here), as I learned about the ...

This entry is coming one day late because somehow my post from yesterday got lost in the virtual world - not sure if I am in love with travelpod so far, but I suppose it will do. :) So, yesterday! What an awesome day!!!! Carole and I got to teach the students at KuMax and Waria Ward about our schools in Cleveland, and about what it is like to live in Tennessee. Some classes even got up and danced a line dance to Rocky Top Tennessee!! We gave out 60 t-shirts from Walker Valley ...

... and Blair's on the hunt for some lederhosen - only thing is when would you ever wear them without raising some eyebrows about what you get up to at home). A bit touristy but we liked looking around all the same. By the end we were all a bit hot and bothered and so headed back to the hostel for tea and then went straight to bed.

The next morning we got up and decided to follow all the walking tour paths ...
