Not directly in city center, but the bus stops right in front of the hotel. We had reasonable rates, for one night's stay. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had the double room, and one room was very small, but the other was average, at least. The bathrooms were small, but worked properly, so how much space do you need? The hotel was very clean. We had the breakfast and thought it was 8 euros per person well spent. We would stay here again.

We took a trip to Salzburg while the girls were here over Christmas Vacation.  It was a first visit for all of us and a place we would be very happy to visit again. But that seems to be the consensus of everyone, when we told them we were going there, everyone agreed it was a good idea. It's a lovely city that has finally embraced the fact …

... for a walking tour. This is the famous composer Mozart's birthplace so lots of touristy Mozart" nick nacks". The weather was warm / hot with temp 30-31 degrees. Would have been ok if my feet/ ankles weren't throbbing & swelling. Have to find the voltaren before another walking tour tomorrow in Graz. Enough of ailments. Our tour took us through the old town where we met our tour director after lunch who walked (not again) back hotel to check in. ...

We finish the last night with a fantastic dinner at Restaurant Barenwirt. These guys are well drilled when it comes to hospitality. They have been open continuously since 1626. Austrian food has been fabulous so we are back on track with our growing investment, our waist line.

We are having a few technology issues which are giving our holiday an interesting twist. Adams' phone is getting darker and darker. When he takes a photo ...

... Mozart balls! I believe it tasted like a minty, coconut, dark chocolate ball, but overall was really quite nice! A short stay, the next morning we headed towards Prague but en route we made a stop at the former concentration camp at Mauthausen where we viewed the leftovers from World War II and the Holocaust. We saw the Crematorium, sleeping facilities, gas chambers and heard many horrific stories whilst getting a ...

... spectacular surroundings. It’s funny that sometimes such simple days can stick with you most of all, but I’m not sure how else to describe our time in Hallstatt other than to just say it was exceptionally captivating.

Still, further adventures await in a country I am increasingly wishing to see more and more of at perhaps a later time. As for now, we are headed to Vienna, the beautiful Austrian capital whose reputation precedes it. Until then.
