... being bred for slaughter. It has to be said that it really is true that ostriches bury their heads in the sand, as whenever we saw any they always had their heads down in the ground. In the afternoon we went to the Cango Endangered Wildlife Ranch, which is a sanctuary for endangered animals. For dinner we tucked into ostrich steak (v.chewy) and ostrich sausages (v.tasty).
... were SO CUTE! I could watch them all day they were great!
While we were waiting for our food to come at the restaurant they had a place you could pet and feed wallabys! So we wandered over there and I fed this wallaby and pet him and he kept licking my hand! It was so fun! Then a few of us went to check out these really cool parrots and as we were taking pictures of it I noticed he kept moving and stuff and in my ...
We left the hotel this morning at 6:30 am after a yummy breakfast with fresh strawberries which I feel like I haven't had in forever! Then it was more driving until 12:20 or so when we arrived at the Bloukrans Bridge, a.k.a. the highest bungee jump in world! It is in the Guinness Book of World Records. So we all went and paid, got weighed, harnessed, and then we waited to jump. They had a restaurant there and it looked outside to the bridge and also ...

We set off for Mossel Bay and have another excellent drive, more mountain roads and straight runs down to the coast. When we get there we find a restaurant called Delphino's. We order a light lunch of trammazini's, but when they arrive they are huge and come with chips.Mine has ...

Well - to call it a room is a bit of an understatement!!! We were shown into our private Luxuary Tented Accomodation on the banks of the dam...complete with outside shower (too cold to use!), huge bath and king sized bed. We then were able to watch the sun go down on our private deck before heading back to the main lodge for dinner. Thursday started with our trip back to the main lodge ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa becsandmichaelaToday I headed inland about 80 kilometers to the town of Oudtshoorn in the Karoo province. The drive through the mountain pass was amazing as there was low lying clouds covering the green, treeless hills. It kind of reminded me of Scotland. My first destination today is the Kango Caves. These caves are about 5 km in length, but only 2 km of the caves are open to the public. There are two tours ...

Chris has gone home now, but tomorrow the two other guys I met in Mozambique and traveled with will be arriving. It's crazy as I keep on bumping into people that I have met along the way. Tonight was insane - it's St Patrick's Day and Ireland won the cricket (I actually watched the end of the match and secretly enjoyed it)! Cape Town is going crazy, but I have come back to the hostel now. Trouble is there is ...
... so loud it sounds like a lawn mower. When you feel its body the vibration is really strong. The second area we got to go into had 4 month old white siberian tigers. They are quite big already. They were very active and wanted to play a lot. One tried to bite my shoe and foot. We had to keep at their backside, so each time they flipped over we had to move. I guess they didn't want us to get swatted by their ...
