North of the Arctic Circle
Finally arrived in Ivalo, north of the Arctic Circle.
Even though the sun isn't actually up, it is still fairly light during mid-day. Hard to actually show it with cameras. They are so smart and able to compensate quite well. There will be a couple of photos that actually show the darkness, but it is different.

Returning with a round, they hand out the glasses, then show us how to link arms, then look deep into the other person's eyes as you knock it back. I can't help giggling as I drink.
At the end of the night we wave goodbye, and head home, finding that the Arctic air is much milder, and there isn't need for so many layers of clothes. Hurrah for vodka!

Saariselkä, a brief guide
Well, we survived a night in the Panimo. The wild crazy Finns Lorna warned us about must have been taking a night off.
When we arrived Lorna pointed out important landmarks on a hand-drawn map, then completely confused everyone (including Ari the driver) in her attempt to orientate it to the ground. Eventually, we manage to find our own bearings to navigate around the resort.
