... we were treated to a ride in the local fire brigades high lift bucket which gave us a fantastic view over Uberdessen the suburb of Bielefeld where the Rosenthal's live. ... very low key affair with a family breakfast of bread rolls, cheese, meats and jams. We all then went to a small zoo in Bielefeld that houses German animals including bears, wolves, foxes, lynx, beavers and and deer. We had a pleasant morning exploring the zoo before returning home where a feast of cakes and other sweets kindly cooked by Oma (grandmother in German, this is Petra mother) awaited us.

All in all a pleasant, picturesque town, with affordable cafes and parking and friendly people, though most visitors were a bit old. Made me feel so young!
