... really got what, but it all tasted good.

Our trip to Burgundy would not be complete without a stop in Nuit-St. George, where we again employed the "look for the sign of whoever is open" tactic and were not dissapointed. We got to try some excellent Pinot, C******nay, and even some Aligote (a white that they mix with Creme de Cassis for an aperitif) from some of the local producers.
Now its up to Champagne!
Beaune, Burgundy, France tommcatt... station we could understand that played the same few songs every hour. I was very happy to finally be back in Paris and riding the metro home! I don't think I will be making any road trips any time soon.

Beaune was a beautiful city despite the weather and I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about traveling abroad to take a day or two and see the country instead of staying put in a city. Its not always the easiest option but definitely a different experience.
Beaune, Bourgogne, France t.rosile... been travelling another line and wasn't going to stop at where I needed to be. The hostel never bothered to tell me that the bus deviates from line 4 after 2000. This stop however according to the bus route map was only a street away from where I needed to be. Phew! A little sweat on the brow there.
Then I spent an hour looking for some place to eat after being directed by the receptionist that there was Pizza 'just across the street'. Being at an intersection; there were ...

It is a lovely spot on the banks of the Yonne and we intend stopping a couple of days. We could easily have walked to a bar in the evening but the bike was unloaded ready for a trip to Auxerre ...

It was thoroughly enjoyable, though it would have been better had it not been 30+ degrees on the dry and dusty construction site.

After leaving Guedelon, we headed for our home base for the next two nights, the city of Beaune. Beaune is a small city of 25K in the heart of Bungundy. After checking into our hotel, we ventured into ...
Beaune, Bourgogne, France dancer_alison... from Troyes to Dijon and just beyond to Beaune seemed, as I'd feared it would, to go on forever. There was some dramatic weather with torrential rain just north of Dijon, which at least took the heat out of the day for a while - it had been very very hot in the depths of the afternoon... But at last we pulled into Beaune and soon spotted a 'Camping' sign; it was easy to track the site down. 'Cent Vignes' is municipally ...
Beaune, Bourgogne, France saracengill... come up with some better designs...so Great wine is this region, we sampled afew reds and had a day trip to Beaune as recommended by Walty's friend Caralyn who lives in Grasse.

Beaune is awash with beautiful 4 star hotels. antique shops and wine boutiques. We spent at least an hr with our faces pressed up against various enticing windows...I was then pulled away by Lauren in search of "la ...
Beaune, Burgundy, France sarahandstutour... she said meet us here at 5 I poked Ed and we took off running. One guy from Bellingham saw us and followed. So the deal is this. You pay 10 Euros and get a little solmmelier tasting cup. You walk downstairs into the stone passageways below Beaune and help yourself to tastes of about 20 Burgundy wines. The first 3 were C******nay, including Pouilly-Fuisse and Meursault (white burgundies). Then ...
Beaune, Burgundy, France voyager-sue... one could find in the region. It did not disappoint. The menu was extensive but, I fairly well ignored it once our server finished explaining the chef's specials for the day. I began my meal with the game-meat terrine in puff pastry, paired with a heavenly glass of white. At first, I wasn't sure the wine would go but, David had ordered a bottle for the table and assured me it would. To my surprise it worked like peanut butter and jelly (a very fancy pb&j). For my main, I ...
Beaune, France danschedler... Oh...I almost forgot that the drink was a celebratory drink for my 29th b-day!!! That night after traveling through lots of other cute villages we made it to Beaune, which is in the heart of the Burgundy wine region. It was a fabulous little town (I sound a little repetitive by now don't I?). We stayed in a little place just called "hotel". It was run by an old couple and the woman's sister. They spoke incredibly little French, so my mom, Nate and I all had to ...
