... here. The conquistadors were not that bright it seems, as they built the ´modern' day Mexico city on a lake. Now I´'m no engineer but even I could have told them that would cause problems down the line. Loads of the buildings are on a massive lean as they sink slowly into the spongy soil. I went up a tower to get a better view of the city, but there wasn´t much to see thanks to all the smog. In the evening it was time to try some Mexican cooking. Once I had explained that I don´t eat ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico lizzyletloose... zombie getup, the day before halloween (see below). Sometimes a little public embarrassment can be good for the self-confidence.

Stay tuned for adventures from Tixla, the second leg of our weekend trip and the town where Kisiev was born, in the second installment. A quick preview: first encounters with Mescal, dancing demons, little vampiros, marching bands, a street fight, and an encounter with a man known only as "I`m from Texas baby!" Johnny.

Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico annoiatissima... had quizzed the tourist information office about our lost Raz shirts. Someone had misinformed us that lost property is collected and handed in here, I was dubious and so it proved, no such luck.

Once at the supermarket we found that they were serving Tacos with a very good selection of toppings for just $4.95 pesos (not even 50cents). In fact, we each taco they gave you two wraps and enough topping to make two ...
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico casebrownfamilyGot to playa del carmen to find our ****** little room in a ****** little hostel. BUT what an awesome group of people. We sat around the communal area every night, drinking, chatting, playing poka. It was heaps of fun! Then we spent our days revering by relaxing on the beach and eating Dr Tacos, which was recommended to us by Tahls and John! Possibly the best burritos ever!!! We then took a boat over to the island Cozumel ...
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico karrina... answered. There were 5 people waiting outside our room who seemed quite surprised to find out that the room was occupied. They breifly hesitated before asking our permission to enter for a quick look at something and Katie kindly obliged, opening the door to allow them in. All 5 of them awkwardly filed in to our room then stood there blocking any access to the other half of our room, while they discussed the light fittings which they apparantly were going to ...
Mexico City, Mexico chillwithjoe... off of 5th Ave with the help of Omar, our concierge at the resort. With all the paper work completed we scooted back to the resort for a one hour swim (float) in the pool and then preparations for dinner. This resort has 7 al la carte restaurants and all have a strict dress code. It was fun getting dressed up every night for a formal dinner. We chose the French ...
Playa del Carmen, Mexico jwoodhouse... to Kukulkan, who is also associated at this site with the wind. (One starts to get the impression that Kukulkan was on the way to establishing monotheism as he seems to be the god of almost everything, but I have not seen any source suggesting such a thing, and I doubt it is correct.) Frigate birds (black, swept back wings, long forked tails) wheeled overhead on the thermals and the occasional pelican flapped by. It is an idyllic spot. It would be very ...
Playa del Carmen, Mexico mlc... was there. But I ditched him again! I had to eat! I went to Zona Rosa and saw that my friend Xavier was having dinner with his Dad! I went to say hi...and guess what...they invited me to dinner! It was SUCH a fancy restaurant. The average price for a dish was 20 dollars! That was way out of my budget....but his dad inforomed me that dinner was on him! Yes, I could order whatever I wanted! Just kidding. I had this great prime rib, a baked potato, and 2 Coronas. Xavier´s dad ...
