we sailed into boothsbay in the dark (as usual). we only had limited lights, so it was a crew effort to communicate with chris who was motoring the boat in via GPS coordinates and autopilot. <br><br>"boat at 1 o'clock!" <br><br> "mooring at 11 o'clock!" <br><br> we successfully docked (at the wrong dock than planned but we docked none the less). we had hoped to get farther up the coast but the last few days had been light wind (cary said ...
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States gocarygoup the coast today on a leisurely drive which included going past numerous antique shops and outlet malls. the coast was actually fairly hidden behind trees and summer "cottages". Arrived Boothbay Harbor and checked into a very nice bed and ...
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States carpefeline... it is on my pile to read.<br><br>I have to tell you about this RV Park we are staying at it is called Meadowbrook. We just picked it out of one of the RV books we have and for no reason in particular. The owners are second generation and very nice and friendly. In the office they have a big tank and scales and you pick out a lobster costing 6.99 per lb they cook whichever one you choose. In addition Clams can be steamed to add to the seafood ...
Phippsburg, Maine, United States brentandjoCont'd Another long bus ride took us to dinner in Maine. The restaurant was called Buck's Naked Barbecue. Mr. Nish thought everyone needs to undress before going into the restaurant. They had Pool tables, foosball, and a jukebox. The girls were playing the jukebox a lot. Mr. Nish played a few songs that no one liked. Fortunately the hotel was 5 minutes away. But now we have a study session. Peace out! Krislyn and Courtney
Freeport, Maine, United States hms_travelDay 14-15 Eating lots of seafood and blueberry pie. YUM! Shopping for pottery and local art in Boothbay Harbor. Driving out Hwy 27 and 238 and off the beaten path, we find Newagen, a lovely cove with all the beauty and character of Maine.
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States travelredgang... I would guess it is a combination of salt, and fish and rotting seaweed but it has a strange almost visceral affect on me, kind of like going home and the moment I opened the car door at this little restaurant that smell hit me. Cal doesn't particularly like it but to me it is like perfume...ok I'm being dramatic but it is a very safe familiar smell to me. This place is called Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster and is on the wharf and just a little divey looking place ...
Brunswick, Maine, United States coppertop... going, well we're made of sturdy stuff, I knew those North Face coats would come in handy! After an hour we reached the falls, these were made even more spectacular by the resent rains, it was well worth the hike. We clocked up some walking miles on this day! Another 40 minute trek took us out to Diana's Baths. The terrain was much flatter, a walk in the park compared to the morning hike. The Baths are a series of pools created by the mountain river ...
Freeport, Maine, United States andyfreshwater... At least Wes and I got the groovy picture in front of the store! :-) Got boots? We arrived in Bar Harbor about 7:30 or so, headed out to find something to eat, and settled in for the night. When I got out of the car in Bar Harbor, my equilibrium was completely off kilter from being in the car so long. Wes and I decided that we were going to do everything in our power to stay out of the car on Monday.
Freeport, Maine, United States wsult3... at the Lobster Broiler a small place your order restaurant. We had fish-N-Chips and Crab sandwich very good very fresh. We ended up at Desert of Maine campground. Which 200 years ago was a working farm but they farmed it too hard and cut down too many trees leaving the fine sand left over from glaciers able to blow around forming sand dunes. Today it is a tourist attraction for kids and family's, every one needs a tourist attraction.
