Uvita de Osa Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, CR 8153
Hi all, Well we made it into Costa Rica 2days ago. We were in late due to a flight delay. We arrived at our Hostal and crashed for the night. The next morning we were to leave at 9am to head south (4hrs on 2 buses). Brett had other plans. She woke up at 7am and started barfing. She barfed every 5minutes (no lie we were timing her) for 2 hours straight. Then complete exhaustion set in and she fell asleep. She slept for 2hrs and woke up feeling "skinny" and "empty". She was fine the rest of the...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica jandaHi everyone, So, we went to the beach yesterday. The tide was out and we had a great time enjoying the waves. Morgan in particular loved it. Every time a wave came in he would put on his mask and take a flying leap into the wave. We all had our sinus cavities rinsed with salt water more than once but it was fun anyway. We found some more shells to add to our collection. Amazing pink shells like I've never seen before. Darcy lost another tooth yesterday. She has lost one in each country on thi...
Uvita, Costa Rica jandaSo I found myself at the Tucan Hotel In Uvita, a real life saver! What a gem this place is. I came in the middle of the night weary and looking for refuge after a terrible community experience. I remeber inching my way toward the sign that read " Tucan Hotel A Travelers Rest" and thinking I sure hope so. Here I found a clean room with air conditioning, a minnie refrigerator, really affordable prices, a guest kitchen and laundry facility, free internet and plenty of hammocks. The owner and th...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica magikmakerHello, Daniel and I just finished 3 days and 3 nights in the beach town of Uvita on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Lonely Planet (referred to by some people wittier than yours truly as Lonely Lies) advised us that Uvita is what Costa Rican beach towns might have looked like before the influx of tourists. The town itself was no more than two eateries, one pharmacy, local houses and a cotellerie of signs advertising the construction of multiple housing developments. The key that these condo un...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sjsil... made dream catchers all day. They had collected sticks from the jungle before we left. We had to take them into the ocean to let them soak so we could bend them. Then, Fletcher had string, I had crystals, and the girls collected shells from the beach....all needed to make the dream catchers. It was a brilliant day! Some of us decided to go on a banana boat....Kelly had been on one before, so she warned us how fast they go. It was ...
Manuel Antonio, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sunmoongoddess... this morning, so we decided to leave the windows open about a quarter inch before we headed down to the waterfall. Then we followed the trail. It wasn't a bad walk, but the falls were crowded. A lot of people from San Jose leave the city around the holidays for the Nicoya Pennisula and people take long weekends, etc. So the locals were more likely to be at the falls than on the beach...it's cooler ...
Montezuma, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica ricf964... town. So i decide the best bet is now the guy in the Corner Store - i trial my very poor Spanish and ask him the only question in my head that I can translate into Spanish "Is Montezuma here??" Apparently my pronunciation had improved substantially by this stage, his eyes widened with disbelief - "no no no no no sinorna!" Ok apparently not? He pointed to this little run down van masquerading as a bus - "Aqui Aqui!" OK so apparently this is the bus to Montezuma? To be continued..
Montezuma, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica sarah_lizzie... couldn't do it without hitting the way on the way down. I was more scared to do these things though after seeing the woman that broke her leg so badly up by the falls. It's a long hike, with not much of a trail. They had to carry her all way back, and the nearest hospital was about 6 hours away I heard someone say.
Gustavo was fun to hang out with, and before the awkward attempted kiss we went swimming in the ocean. That's when I was ...
... we'd walk there, take a quick dip and leave but it turned into possibly the most intense 3-hour hike of my life. i had several moments of panic where i thought i was going to either slip on a rock and crack my head open, or lose my footing and fall down the cliff. then, as i stood wimpering about how to cross a certain spot, a handful of children walked past me and manuevered in seconds...anddd then i realized to ...
