... bridge, where some older white American men were fishing and speaking with a southern twang. Who knows how long they have lived here?!

Livingston—dead . Tourism has left this area. It was really, really hot! I didn’t really enjoy the vibe. I know others might, but I thought the people were a little unwelcoming. I didn’t get answers with a smile. Just mumbles and a point in the direction. Or , for example ...
Livingston, Guatemala yoomster
Apologies for a bit of radio silence but been off piste with no internet access for a while now. Am currently in Guatemala in Antigua after spending the past week in various spots around the country. To be honest life is getting tougher by the day and i'm not sure how much more of this amazing scenery, eating, drinking and lying in hammocks I can handle. I've lost track of what day of the week it is and every day seems to get better and better....
Going back a week to ...
Lívingston, Izabal, Guatemala evs1210... local drinks - Gifiti, generally rum infused with an assortment of herbs. Some consider it medicine. Unfortunately is wasn´t coconut rum and was very strong and bitter. Not recommended.

My next stop was an eco-lodge on the Tatin River, also only reachable by boat. I caught the owner in Livingston and he shuttled me out there. This place is great. Lots ...
Rio Tatin, Izabal, Guatemala tonka_eng... We had dinner at Jarachik waiting for the rain to subside and then went out with Frank, Matt, Brad, Steve and some others and played darts at the Buddha bar (a bit of a Gringo hang out) and met the fabulous, Anna and Paul, also from London, who had done the Xela to San Pedro walk the week earlier. We immediately bonded, sharing stories and comparing our two walks. The night was long and drunken and we left the bar, which closed at 1 am (as does everything it ...
Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala hess... there was a LOT of it (it lasted me a long time) and carrying a whole coconut around is rather cumbersome! After being in the relatively untoursity PG for 4 weeks we find being suddenly part of a huge crowd of ‘gringos’ (foreigners) a little bizarre. In Belize we felt like we had a purpose but we have to come to terms with the fact that in Guatemala we are just gringas too!

We spent much of the rest of the afternoon ...
Livingston, Guatemala sarahelective... into two vans with all the luggage on the first. We pass the time by playing name that tune. Being musically challenged I am not good at this game. I do, however, get the NJ artists (Boss and Bon Jovi)!

Please don´t read anything into that.
Antigua Guatemala, Western Highlands, Guatemala fatofi... nd flour, the Gu*tem*l*ns *re throwing them *t e*ch other. It w*s * hil*rious street fight between gringos *nd the loc*l children. Quetzeltanango, Western Highlands, Guatemala sainty1... beard in protest. The upshot was that not only did I have to face a 1500m climb in the morining with a bad stomach; I was also knackered. This made it really hard. The reason we had wanted to start at 4.30 am was to make it to thetop of the volcano before 10 am when the clouds roll in every day, obscuring the view for the rest of the day. Depite me slowing us up, we made it for 8.30. Except that, just this once, the ...
San Pedro, New York, Guatemala sam180... were triple-fisting.

The music didn´t last too long as members of the band kept leaving to go outside and smoke joints. The one annoyed band member who didn´t join them, King, sat at our table and complained that everybody had smoked too much weed and didn´t have rhythm.

The next day I took a tour to a local river with some pretty pools you can swim in and a nice beach (where they filmed scenes from the first Tarzan movie). At the beach we just all hung out ...
