... a longer route which was meant to pass through orange groves but we didn't have time so we just went the quickest way to our accommodation, Setoda Private Hostel. Contrary to what we'd read, it was easy to find. We got shown our room which was a traditional tatami mat room with ensuite. There is an onsen and dinner is at a set time. We had a couple of hours to kill so went and sat on the nearby beach with some wine. Ben arrived and joined us a bit later. The beach ...

... impossible! For some reason this place has barely any restaurants and any we did see were so expensive. In desperation we split up to check out different streets. In one area I found loads of izakayas but all in Japanese so I couldn't read prices. We found a small convenience store and decided to just get a ready meal to take back to the hostel. ... and a short walk later we had arrived at our hotel in Onomichi. Unfortunately at this point my feet are very sore and I am in no mood to go biking between any islands. As it turns out the weather is kind of rainy and gray and it doesn't take much to talk Erika into a rest day. We dine on Ramen a block from our hotel and call it a night pretty early. Nothing to see here, at least that we bothered to take photos of on this day.

... chatting to a Taiwanese woman who told us that the group were part of a health/business conference as the owner of the hotel believes that a healthy body and mind makes for a healthy business. Strangely, when we asked her why her English was so good she said hat she had studied in Edinburgh as well! To finish the bizarre day a man from the group stood up and started playing the saxophone. What an experience and certainly not one mentioned in the Rough ...
