... I am glad I checked the weather forecast, which predicted rightly so.
Tomorrow should be better, but still a bit of rain. That's why I decided not to cross the mountains towards Kochi, instead I ride eastwards along the sea to Sakaide, frome where I cross a very long bridge back to the Honshu.
From there I will move slowly in to the direction of Kyushu, probably one more visit Hiroshima,to finally reach Kagoshima, from where the ferry leaves for Okinawa ...

... spectacular views of the hillside, river and huge boulders below...think Puffing Billy on steroids! An awesome experience! As dusk fell we headed to a quaint riverside town to witness cormorant fishing. Birds on leashes, diving for fish from ancient looking boats. Home after ...

A travel blog entry by canadiansmiley on Oct 27, 2013

Took the early morning train from Hiroshima to Onomichi to start my 70km cycling trip to Imbari. Was looking forward to the trip. This trip reminds me of the cycling through Vancouver islands. Island hopping. It is very easy to go from one place to the next. All routes are well ...

... I reached bridge number 2. This is where it gets good, according to the tourist map at the entrance there was a free-site halfway across the bridge on a teeny tiny island. Score!! Camp to no cost AND having direct access to the bridge at sundown - that meant only one thing: long exposures! Oh the many joys of a camera! Day 2 Breakfast on a wall. A beach below. A bridge above. The free-site was good! I slept with the fly open on the tent all night and only the mosquito ...

... at the hostel. This time I'm starting in the other end with a railpass so I'm sure I get to see a lot more this time around. I had a good few last days on Shikoku tho. Very relaxed in Matsuyama's onsen neighbourhood Dogo. Anyone who is a Studio Ghibli fan knows that this bath house stood as model for the one in Spirited Away. It's a gorgeous building and apparently the oldest onsen in Japan.. But when it comes to the bath itself well.. ...
