... which state is going to experience the most drastic weather changes in the near future. I left the test feeling frustrated because I felt like I knew more that my performance was going to show. Oh well! I went to the library afterwards and got a lonely planet guide on Hawaii to try and figure out just what I wanted to do in my 40 hours on Oahu. I looked into snorkeling, surfing on the North ...
Yokohama, Japan claudiv... commuters (which hasn't been as hard as I thought it was going to be to be honest). Walking out of the station, it wasnt hard to find the building. It simply dominated the skyline. Plus, there was a nice undercover travellator equipped walkway leading from the station right to the tower elevator, which made getting there very fast and simple. Into the second quickest elevator on the planet, and ...
Yokohama, Kanto, Japan apat... our destination and were picked up by the pastor. He took us over to the Kogane Church where we finally got to set down our stuff in the pastors office and rest our aching bones. OK, well my bones were aching, I hadn't told Becky yet because I wanted to do what I said I would do, but when I had gone to bed, as well as when I had woken up, as well as all throughout the night, I had been having a soar throat, and a stuffy nose. In the morning I asked her for tea and hoped ...
Yokohama, Japan japanmc... Sunshine 60 building to check out the view. It wasn't as good at Umeda, but it was better than Kyoto Tower! Feeling sick coupled with vertigo was an interesting experience too. But anyway I thuoght it was fun, especially because it was after dark. The elevator had cool glow-in-the-dark scenery (instead of being glass THANK GOD). Dinner that night was without Alex as he wasn't feeling well, so Matt Jo and i went to a nice place up the road which had yakitori out ...
Tokyo, Japan noni_matt... in the family. He repeated Year 10 - upon his own volition. Why? His teachers decided that he should be placed in the accelerate class. But he could not cope with the rigorous and fierce competitive atmosphere in his classroom. Finishing high school he went onto a college that trains hospital secretaries. He was not interested but went there to mask his unemployment - which many people do - and to please his parents ...
Yokohama, Japan ryota... window. The façade of the building has three parts to it, middle, left and right, looking like an Art Deco building. But that is where art ends, and ugliness begins. On top left and right of the façade are the national coat of arms, emu and wallaby (or is it a kangaroo?). Yes, one national coats of arms on each side. These are big lumps of iron ore. What was amazing about these creatures was that they were put on small platforms jetting out of the wall, like verandah. The ...
Tokyo, Japan ryota... as if we've been out the vet. What with her getting her vaccination and him getting his Rabies injection (they don't have it here but it's required!) Anyways, we had to take Himiko again yesterday as she's not peeing. Seems she has a UTI, poor wee thing, so we've got antibiotics for her. Thankfully the vet is pretty cheap over here. Consultation, drugs and pee test was about £15. Think a consultation would cost that much in ...
Yokohama, Japan japanesewhisper... and going crazy for us, especially if we waved directly at them or caught eye-contact. I added fuel to the fire by throwing my glow-stick to them. They went B-A-N-A-N-A-S! It seems so silly to get that kind of reaction from anyone! But it's humbling and also makes all of us giggle a little bit too. After the show we had a big meet-and-greet in the green room. I actually got to meet the girls from the paragraph above ...
Tokyo, Japan nyguy79... inside. Lots of the statues had little red crocheted caps and/or scarves put on them, I guess so they would stay warm? It was pretty cute, like dressed up dolls. The path here was lined with red temple lights and would have been amazing at night. There wasn't much at the top and not much of a few since it was foggy. A thick fog rolled in around the time I got to the monkey park, so it was very cool and atmospheric. At the summit, I headed back down trail #6. This ...
