... also found. I love that we were walking the same path that may have been traveled by samurai, pilgrims, officials and spies throughout Japan’s tumultuous past centuries. “This is a well-travelled highway,” Mike remarked as a large group of Japanese hikers passed us. There were definitely more hikers present than I expected on a weekday. However, everyone was very friendly and encouraging, especially when they saw the sleeping child on my back. ...

... me. For breakfast the next morning, second verse, same as the first. More of the same. Grilled fish, orange slices, more rice and sweet egg bake. ... We walked to the left where families enjoyed the tide pools. Walking to the farthest shores, we finally found some breathing room. The breeze was refreshing and the scenery rewarding. Mike didn't want to wait in line to take the ferry back so we hoofed back up and over the mountain island luckily finding some lesser used routes. Perhaps it wasn't the best day to do this outing, but I still really enjoyed the visit. It took us over 2 hours to get home. ...
