... Alternatively, if you are accustomed to travelling light, you may prefer to send your main luggage from your accommodation before the Nakasendo Trail to wherever you are staying after the trail. You would then manage with overnight essentials in your daypack for all four nights on the trail. Use one of the wonderful Japanese luggage-forwarding services which are ultra-efficient and secure. We supply train tickets for your journey from Kyoto or ...

... feeling very weary from our trek, we caught two buses and three trains to our next destination, Hakone. Hakone sits in the valley of Mount Fuji, with a large allegedly (we couldn't see it for the fog and cloud!) picturesque lake surrounded by forested mountains and Mount Fuji in the distance. 8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

Wasted no time going from the base of Fuji to our first onsen (hot spring baths). The minerals in the water are supposed to do good things for the skin. It felt amazing to rest our muscles and get clean after the trek. Checked into Hakone Suimeiso ryokan, a traditional Japanese guesthouse. This is where you are served a kaiseki meal in your room ...

... hostel, the K’s House Ito Onsen, and we chose to take a small, charming lane instead of the main street. All of a sudden I noticed some music in the street and I followed the sound, hoping to find a festival or a bar at its origins. But what I finally found was.. A speaker. When we kept on walking I realized that there were many speakers along the lane, amazing! Like this people get entertained in a relaxing way on their way home – I couldn’t possibly ...
