Wszystkie atrakcje w dowolnych ilościach były do naszej ...
Suzuka, Mie, Japan ania-maciekWe did the usual disembarkation and re-boarding to go through security in Nagoya. I threw the Japanese quarantine inspectors into a tizzy. I saw there was no line for the security checkpoint and didn't see them at the far end of where the line normally is, so I jumped the barrier and almost violated their quarantine. The decided I didn't have swine flu and let me through. I had only a few minutes between when I got to the gate and we started to board.
Tokoname, Aichi, Japan srvance... nice austere architecture and clean unstained woodwork.

I'm still somewhat conflicted abouthtre exclusivity factor of Ise Jingu--at both shrines, the central complex is off limited to the public; in fact there are four or five layers of fences to keep prying eyes away. This complex contains the main halls for religious rites, the Imperial family prayer facilities and the treasure houses. For a publically ...
Ise, Kinki, Japan mchao... is definitely a challenge. Finally none of the locals actually spoke any English. You were really on your own out here. I took my map from the tourist package and just wandered around Kyoto. It took me half and hour to figure out the Subway but I finally figured out where to go. I just took it to Gion (old Geisha district) and just wandered around to various landmarks. Unfortunately nothing was draw to scale on the map so I walked for ...
Kyoto, Japan oliver.wai... complimented me on my chopstick technique! I was thoroughly contented after lunch, glad to have found the restaurant and happy to have experienced the atmosphere and delicious food and setting. About twenty minutes' walk away from Ryoanji is Rukon-Ji Temple (600JPY entrance fee), the site of Kinkaji the Golden Pavilion. This gleaming three storey building sits at the edge of a reflective pond, it's two upper storeys shining ...
Kyoto, Japan amycm

Situations

Here are a few of the feelings.

The Ryokan in Nara - We stayed in a traditional
Japanese inn in Nara, but we weren't very lucky... It was very cold and not very clean but the old man (whose wife had died) was running it by himself and he was such a sweet little man. We both found it very funny that every time we had to communicate, I had to look up every single word in my phrase book! But he was great!

We felt we had had ...
Iga, Kinki, Japan lizardom... the dust off his backpack. After our trip to the laundry we decided to go back to the Ryokan and read for a bit. Only a few minutes later Mrs Ryokan slides the door open, muttering away and holding a tea-tray, her foot still wrapped in blood soaked tissues. We then recieved the look of horror again, this time we had cluttered the table with our books and maps, which we immediately cleared before another arm flapping incident. A few minutes later Mrs Ryokan appeared again ...
Kyoto, Japan ad_n_cazWell the smallest city name anyway...and by that I mean pronunciation.. (try making a t sound then coughing and your close) If you dint know or didn't really care I am informing the general population that I am living in Tsu in the Mie Prefecture in Japan. (Tsu-shi, Mie-Ken for those Japanese amongst us) Yes about a month ago I took up a decision to leave my beloved Perth and head north to the fair shores of Nihon/Nippon! The rest is history..... well not quite I am ...
Tsu, Japan keno... through shirts like nobody's business, leaving a crumpled pile of stinking tee's in the corners of our room. Ahh, the smell of manliness. Our itinerary for our third full day in Kyoto was going to take us out of the city proper and into the surrounding small mountain town of Arashiyama, and more specifically, to the Iwatayama Monkey Park where snow monkeys -- macaques -- wandered wild and free up and down the sides of the mountain and demanded tribute from those who ...
Arashiyama, Japan battlemonkey... they may be, inside the buildings. Like Ginkaku-ji, Kiyomizu-dera is a balance of maintained garden and natural beauty. Originally constructed in 798 A.D., which means it was around during the early days of the Byzantine Empire in Eastern Europe, the temple was devoted to Juichi-men, an eleven-headed god. As things tend to be, much of the original temple was destroyed throughout the years, and what now stands are reconstructions commissioned in 1633 by Iemitsu, the third shogun of the ...
