During the lunch, we have some viewing of animals at the saltlick pool in front of the terrace of the restaurant. The food is really good again...
In the afternoon, a greatly deceiving game drive, in part due to ...

week so maybe I will create a wonderful scene of my own, though that is
more than highly unlikely.

We got back in the van and drove
for 5 minutes, to stop at the side of the highway, and look at a baobab
tree, which I actually was really thrilled about, because I have been
wanting to see a baobab tree since I read the Little Prince (LE ...

We enjoyed another great buffet style meal. They offered up some true African foods, but I couldn't bring myself to eat the whole goat they had twirling on a spit. We opted to go on a full day game drive the next day and so we turned in a bit early again. The lodge will prepare all of us a box lunch to take with us.

Masai Village

... and showed us inside one of their homes. It is Masai tradition for the woman to build the homes and they are made from cow dung and set in the sun. They are so small and dark inside. Here is a picture inside one...... you can hardly breath in there too because there is a fire lit in the middle and v smoky. After we went a walk around the village and were shown where they keep the cows and goats - these are taken out every day ...

Taking a walk on the wild side!

... working at the camp had offered to take us a walk out to a local river to see if there were any animals there. When we arrived back, there was our friendly Masai "John", waiting to take us out! Sooooooo...we went! Why not, hey, they must know what they're doing, don't they?!! So, off we went for our walk to the river. We must have been out of the camp for about 5 minutes and it was time for underwear change number two! Tense was an understatement ...

Rambling in East Africa

... the children I visit cannot get medical treatment and hence suffer unnecessarily all because the government imposes high charges for health care and at that the health care is bloody awful to say the least. I've been visiting Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. The first time I got there I was appalled to see at least two patients in every bed and some very very sick people. One woman in particular scared me a lot, she was having a blood transfusion but at the same time she ...

Ngulia Lodge, Tsavo West

Our second night on safari was spent at Ngulia lodge. Another great view. Sitting in the restaurant and in the rooms. Vultures in the trees. Buffalo crossing the horizon. The highlight was a bit staged but it didn't diminish the spectical tical. A wild leopard ...

What? No animals?

Got up and folded the tent. Went to the lodge for breakfast. Then we went to Mazumi Springs. We saw two hippos and crocodiles. We went to the hut where you can see underwater and saw a lot of fish. The road was very straight. We saw many dik-diks and a snake (must have been poisonous, mom said, because it kept trying to bite our car tire). We also saw a kudu. At the park, we took a camel ride. It was fun. Daddy had Rouy -- the ...

We're on our own!

We got our own rental car today and drove to Tsavo. When we came to a place with vendors, Mom and Dad and Ann bought things while I talked to some people. Later, Mom told us that Jomo Kenyatta died. It was strange, because we had just been talking about what might happen when he died. Then we got to the park and went to the hotel for dinner. They had already closed the restaurant, but they gave us a loaf of bread. All the campsites were taken, so we just camped in the middle.
