The time change has made me a bit disorientated. I mess around in the morning before setting off to Chelyabinsk then make a friend in the parking attendant. I have his address and have to send the photo of us together. He speaks no English but my charades are getting better if not a little repetitive. Doing a fog horn implies ferry and I think Vostok means East and Ingleski means English. I make hard work of the ride and now have ...

To hear the name of Siberia is freezing but to be there was lovely. The people are nice and friendly, the city is strong and well constructed, sorrounded by the Miass River and circled by woods both inside and outside town.
The cathedral is the most wonderful gothic you can picture on a first rainy, then windy and finally snowy evening.
Don't miss it, it's 2.5 hrs. south of Moscow.

Yet, despite my still lingering cough and cold, I still slept only in my underwear, the sticky heat from outside pushing through the artificial cold inside.
Dasha was the centre of attention. It ...

Many thanks Aselle, for recommending Hotel Medeu. It was really lovely as was our adventure through your homeland. How sorry we were that we didn't manage to meet up with you - but you never know though, one day you might end up holidaying in New Zealand...
We arrived at the Russian border at 10.45am and sailed through at 2pm. Aaaah, what a doddle that was with the major holdup being everything closing up for an ...
