... the train broke down during the evening and we are now running 8 hours behind time. Don`t get the impression that this is totally unusual. Expected arrival in Port Elizabeth is now midnight!

Hope that everyone had a good October holiday and that all of you who were away had a really enjoyable time.

Happy new term on Monday to all the school people. Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa fairnie... relative to the particicpant ... Check out how confident and graceful we look with the valley behind us !

A quick lunch snack followed by a drive in the wilderness and some "lost" moments finally brought us to “Cloud 9”, the launch site of our afternoon activity – Paragliding. This was our 3rd time lucky,
having failed twice to take off in Turkey (Oludeniz) due to strong wind conditions. Luck was on our side and we both did our maiden tandem ...

Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa boydandrose... this trip but people told us it was amazing to do. I still want to swim in the ocean when I get home. The baz bus picked us up around 1.30pm and we drove along the farming areas and green forests towards Knysna. We stayed in Knysna at Island Vibe Backpackers. This is a larger town and again very much seaside holiday style town. It was pm when we got in and our room was great with a TV so we had a night in ...
Knysna, Western Cape, South Africa kasnsqueak... speed should gradually decelerate until you finally come to a natural stop!
A wide mixture of feelings overflowed throughout my whole being as I was going through my complete 30-second-long free fall. Free like an eagle descending fast from far above, I could hear the whizzing sound of the wind rushing past my ears. Actually, at first, I felt nothing –I have to admit! I just saw the ground rushing towards me! And as I was pulled up high for the first ...
Stormsrivier, Eastern Cape, South Africa travelens... 12, so we arranged to be back at the tour office for 11.30 and set off back into Town. Allan was on a mission to find football tops from other South Afrcian teams and we went to the Square Mile shopping centre, based on a tip from the guide at Monkeyland the day before. Allan managed to find an Orlando Pirates top that was much cheaper than the ones we saw in Capetown and it had the long sleeves - both of which made Allan very very happy! Allan had ...
Plettenberg Bay, South Africa trc_179... really get a good feel of how *********** life was back then. Saturday evening we found the most amazing bar called Zulas on Long Street that played African dance music, the place was buzzing with a brilliant atmosphere. We all said we would love a place like that back in our home towns. (SW and SC you would have loved it :-) ) Sunday we went on a Pennisula tour and saw the penguins on Boulders Beach and walked across Africa - well from Cape Point to the Cape of Good ...
Cape Town, South Africa pb1964Hello!! Driving through the towns towards Plettenberg Bay, it was interesting to note the housing differences were such a short distance from one another. Along the ocean and in the hills overlooking the water were fabulous homes that would rival those from Beverly Hills. Whereas less than 1km away would be townships, which would typically house the poorest of the population. There would be hundreds to thousands of small shacks, no bigger than a ...
Plettenberg Bay, South Africa vannhansen... bungy in the world @ 216m. Pretty high I chickened out and walked over the bridge with him which was kinda scary! But when we arrived and saw the guys who would be in charge of the safety side we were a little worried as they were dancing like nutters to nickleback and techno. George lived to tell the tale even whiter than he was before he jumped! WEDNESDAY 29TH MARCH 06 a short drive from where we are staying ...
Plettenberg Bay, South Africa lisastravel... Garden Route is a very well off area and it didn't feel like Africa sometimes so one day I would like to see the real Africa. I did see some stunning stars at night, including shooting stars, and found it very strange that the locals were complaining how cold the winter is and walking around in coats while I was in my bikini on the beach getting a tan!
