... with tight timing sailing solo, I should have/could have prepared the genoa before left just in case! Finally I had to let the main flap and getting wet on foredeck while getting smashed by the 2 meter waves, another great lesson learned in the hard way. It was a great relief after the genoa up then we started broad reaching through the side waves flying at 7 knots, Quadrophenia was happily battling the ...
... de Europa national park, where a little train called a funicular ran up and down inside a mountain. We went up in the funicular, then walked for a few hundred metres until we got to a village. The village was sort of split in half, with a stream running in the middle. There was 2 bridges across the stream, a good sturdy one, and one made just out of planks set across the stones. We spent a few days in Gijon which was a very interesting town, with a wonderful atmosphere and great cultural activities. We just happened to be there whilst a cultural festival was going on. Each evening there was a concert by the marina, which displayed the various styles of music of the (Asturian) region.
The town itself was fairly modern, with a few hidden gems.
A most pleasant stay.
