... made homemade cranberry sauce which had an amazing zing to it. We had 3, 3.4kg turkies for about 14 people. Bread, stuffing, mashed potatoes, beans, corn, carrots, pickles, squash. Alvira made oreo cakes, Pam, Wendy and I made an apple crisp, Shawn bought a frozen apple pie and Manny brought a fruit salad for dessert with ice cream. Pam and I had to leave at the end to head ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepWe headed to the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to get tickets back to Braunshweig. We stopped in Hannover for 1 hour and we quickly walked through some of the shopping section. We were tired when we finally arrived so we hung out in my room for a while just relaxing. We hung out with all of the URI students in Weststadt and it was a lot of fun.
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... Peas, Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga, a famous violinist, the youngest F1 champion who drove his car inside the hall and did a few doughnuts, John Cusack, and a famous director. The first contestant was a physics major and he could read a sentence that was repeated over and over on a rolling piece of paper spinning very fast (100 km/h I think?). He got 2 ot of the 3 sentences correct. Another guy used a backhoe to shoot baskets!! He was amazing. A trained guy in the sport of ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... costume stores in Germany since Halloween isn't really a big event here.
Wendy and I also explored for the Staples on the Ring but it was a disappointment, we were hoping it would look exactly like it does at home. Oh well.
When I got back I went to the Michaelishof area for Denise's handball game with Soth and Shawn. Denise is Soth's German International Partnering Projekt (IPP ...
... some fun. We wrote our names down on index cards and then we were put on random teams for 15 mintue games. All the players on each winning team got a shinny ribbon and whoever collected the most ribbons won a prize. We didn't realize that the tournament lasted from 8:30pm -6am!!! So we left around 11. It was a lot of fun, but some of the Germans were very intense and I had no idea what they were telling me to do sometimes!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepSo I can't really remember much about Hannover besides that there was nothing to see, nothing to do, the weather was bad and the campsite was overpriced! Dont get me wrong, I'm sure its a lovely place with nice weather and during the summer when the gardens are open which is where Hanovers charm is supposed to be. Wasn't our cup of tea so we moved on rather quickly. Byebye Hanover....maybe next time!
Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany ktchris... to walk back to the inner city. We found some cool statues and a river that runs around the city Then we got some ice cream and Manny got Chinese since we had to wait for the next train to leave for Braunshweig. We learned that the cities in Germany are very cool places to explore and all have a similar set up, Hannover residents love to shop! There was a huge strip underground of just shopping areas that connected to the Hauptbahnhof and the U-Bahn.
Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... there was a short breakfast and then Wendy and I went to go pick up our Visa's. We are now officially allowed to be in Germany for 1 year! We hung around Friday night and baked wurst in onions, cauliflower and peppers and also made mashed potatoes, it was amazing!!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepAfter we got back to Braunschweig from Salzgitter we had a trip through the woods to a Fischhaus. Theres (one of our teachers) has a friend who owns a "fish farm" and was cooking us dinner. We took the bus from the theater to this woodsy area near the fast train and took a 30 min walk to the fish house, which was beautiful. It felt just like the woods in PA, deer like ...
