Braunfels Strasse 17 Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany, 60486, 69-707300

We woke up at 6:15am for an 8am departure from Frankfurt to Cologne (Koln). It's about 175 miles (280km) from Frankfurt to Cologne. Before we left the Frankfurt area, we stopped to see the Lorelei Rock. The Lorelei rock is a rock formation on the Rhine River where the narrowest part of the Rhine is between the North Sea and Switzerland. The legend holds that Lorelei was a beautiful, young maiden who committed suicide by jumping from this rock formation because of an unfaithful lover. She cam...

Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany silberregenIt was sooooo cold in Frankfurt, we didn't want to spend much time here since we had no winter clothing. WE got in late, went to our hotel, then back to the airport to get our flight to Bangkok moved up. We though it would be at 8 that night, but they managed to get us on the next flight out, which was pretty much within the hour. Woohooo! I also kept speaking Italian in Germany... so confused with all the languages.
Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany sofenjon... returns and I was allowed to enter the holding pen. This very different from the US. You cannot enter the "waiting area" near the gate until the ticket agents open the area and you make it through the proces mentioned above. Then you sit and wait an hour while ticket agents random check your bag sizes trying to force you to "check" the carry on. Then you line up in the same non-orderly fashion to board another cold bus ride to the ...

Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany the_stamms... 2 hours, so we found a covered seat in the back for most of the ride. It is under a canopy with open sides so the view was somewhat obstructed, but still ok. It was also a little windy back there so I wore a jacket for the first daytime on the trip.

The boat made its way slowly along the river and we saw dozens of castles. It was nice having the Rick Steves book and the KM markers on the riverbanks ...
Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany canadian_coupleOh my life... First off, I thought I was going to Zurich, but showed up to discover I was actually going to Frankfurt. Fine. I boarded my flight on Lufthansa per usual and was off. The flight was full of Americans and Canadians, with a few Spaniards and Germans sprinkled in for good measure. I got to Frankfurt and strolled around for a bit before heading to my gate. The second I sat down I saw the ugliest letter in the alphabet on a sweatshirt: the ...
Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany danielpeach... Chicago was bumpy the whole way and the overseas flight was constistently bumpy for the first four hours. However, I actually slept most of the flight, which is usually difficult for me. We arrived this morning and took the train (S-Bahn) to the Hauptbahnhof, then walked to our hostel. After checking in, we took a walk around the Altstadt and saw the Dom and the Römerberg. Very picturesque, but it's a sweltering hot day!! Take care! Wayne
