... We noticed the diference in the cathedrals of South America compared to those of Europe. South America was very gothic, with rougher cut bricks of stone, brass or stone statues that seemed dark or eroded, they were impressive in their own way but the ones in Madrid are grand, covered in gold, marble, and bronze. They appear to display an obvious character of wealth and prosperity, the lines are clean, sharp and well designed.

What a beautiful city.  We all loved Madrid.  Stayed at a lovely retro hotel.  Caught the hop on-hop off bus first to check out all the sights.  So much to see and do.  Lovely old narrow streets, lots of people in the squares.  Lovely outdoor eating places.  Did lots of walking, and more walking!!!  Had to buy a new camera because mine wouldn't work after falling over in the sand in ...
