Avenida de Logrono 100 Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands, 28042
What was supposed to be a 2 hour flight from London Heathrow to Madrid ended up taking around 6 hours due to technical hitches, and passengers walking off! Once we eventually arrived, we´d missed the connection to Rio and had a nightmare trying to get our bags back, and arguing with the airline to get us a hotel. Once we eventually arrived, we discover that the airline were trying to get out of paying for our food - chancers! The lovely Spanish receptionist soon put that to rights, and we´re ...

... piece of sausage in the middle. Delicious. The staff were really friendly and after we tipped him a couple of euro played a bunch of The Beatles for me (cause I am British). Excellent bar - definitely would recommend it to anyone going to Madrid. Video of the bar here.
We staggered out of there and hit the last bar of the night and hit up the next 'cave' bar - Muse De Guitaros on the list I photocopied from Frommers. The ...
... carrier here in Spain...they had no joke about 200 different phone options...but a full size "air hokey" table to play for fun while in the store...though it was a virtual...a touch screen really...that you touched and pushed to slide the "puck" There stairs were made up entirely of screens depicting a fishes swimming about--incredible...serisouly...this store makes the Apple Store look like Wal-Mart! We continued down the Gran Via, lots of shops...in another trip with more cash ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands whoisjohngalt... the sidewalk. Also while I was there, there was a protest about workers wages and the failing economy. It seems I have to see a protest in every country I got to ( yes I saw one in Florence). But anyways, these streets lead to Grand Via, which was sort of like a mini-Broadway Ave/Times Square in Madrid. It had huge flagship stores and lots of neon signs. Of course though, in Madrid, everything doesn't start until like 10:00 at night ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands bsbfanatik... s a giant cross on top of it, which is 40 stories high! Unfortunately the weather was foggy and we couldn't see the cross too clearly, nor climb up the rock to its base. We were also unable to see the mountains, which would look really nice in clear weather. The monument was the idea of Francisco Franco, Spain's fascist dictator for almost 30 years, and our guide, who seemed quite a fan of his, explained that the monument treated equally those who died fighting for ...
Madrid, Spain verow... America, for sure. It seems like a fantastic, low-stress lifestyle. Buskers abound in town, but they aren't pushy as we've become accustomed to, in a particular North African country that will remain nameless... We took several self-guided walking tours throughout the city, burning several calories and hours in the process. We saw a small stone Egyptian temple that the Egyptian government donated to Spain, a monument to Don Quixote, a statue ...
Madrid, Spain juampapita... get on his feet again. There's lots of blood all over him, dripping onto the floor. He disappears out the door, while the other guy runs after him aiming his gun at the somewhat moving target. Everyone in the bar follows them out into the street. There's a couple of more gunshots. I am staying inside the bar the whole time, kind of shaking a bit. A couple of minutes later everyone returns from the street and starts ordering more drinks, chatting, laughing, dancing ...
Madrid, Spain stevefn... in Russia!" as her parting line. (Alaina's family is traveling to St. Petersburg and Moscow when I will be there). I really think that I lead the most amazing life in the world! The things I have gotten to do and see and experience have just been overwhelming! Anyways, I tried to make my way back to the airport to catch my plane via the metro. Unfortunately, the stop that I was supposed to transfer on was closed, so I wound up having to take about four other lines and ...
