After a 16 hour bus ride from Panama we arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica. Crossing the border turned out to be a pretty painful experience. We arrived at immigration at 6am where we had to wait for an hour for it to open. Next everyone's bags had to be unloaded from the bus and we all had to go in to a room where some were searched and sniffer dogs were let loose among them. When that was done we had to join the queue for exit stamps. Finally ...

... by Katie, we received a new key by a disgruntled receptionist (she already had left the office for the night). Luckily, Montezuma is a small beach town; one of the locals happened to know the receptionist's fiancee's cell phone number. It was an emotional roller coaster night to say the least, but I wasn't going to let anything ruin my trip. I was at the freaking beach!
