    No travelling today so we were able to have a leisurely breakfast and do a few domestic chores before setting off on the Brompton bikes along the radweg which follows the Mulde river to Rochlitz. Mainly a very pleasant route through the countryside.     ... 500 prisoners, there were approximately 300 escape attempts and 31 prisoners made it 'home' and usually sent a cheeky postcard to the camp commandant and sometimes left an equally cheeky message as they left saying such things as 'I can't stand the COLD anymore in Colditz- auf Wiedersehen! The escape museum contained amazing items made from scrapes such as a sewing machine which the German's permitted to make theatre costumes but the prisoners used 'out of hours' ...

    ... France was the aggressor and everyone combined to beat them (Napoleon) at Leipzig. It’s huge – probably in keeping with the battle. Impressive.

    Did the tourist info centre 5 Euro walking tour. Not as good as the free ones but didn’t seem to be any of those here. Was taken by an old codger who was as dry as. Would have been better to have saved my 5 Euro and follow the map around as ...
