... rooms as they were ın the old ottoman´s times. Just beautiful and very special
On the way to Amasya, we have been loosing our way sometimes completely. Its a big country and all people are very helpful, even ıf they cannot read a map.
... a huge lunch in Giresun.
We planned to camp again but arriving where the Rough Guide described copious beaches and finding a major road we sought accommodation elsewhere. I walked into the Teachers House who were more than happy to arrange rooms for us as they were quiet.
There were a few noises through the night but nothing prepared me for the bird attack. In the early hours of the morning a crow started up it's cawing racket and something struck the tent where my head was. The crow went on cawing and I went back to sleep. Luckily I've been using the outer sheet since it rained so there was no contact with my head but when I checked the sheet the next day ...
Çeşmeönü, Ordu, Turkey michael_bromby... three cyclists went by. I met the cyclists later down the road and we've been together since.
Nicholas met Tom and Blaze in Germany. Nicholas is heading for Iran whereas Tom and Blaze are heading for China taking a similar route to mine.
We found a campsite just off the main road (two camp sites compete for custom side-by-side so we camped for 5TL per tent).
David and I parted in rain that had started just after we broke camp. It continued until I reached Havza at about 11am. I ducked into a lokanta for an Iskembe soup followed by Kuru Fasulye (Baked Beans) with a mountain of bread. It costs about 7TL.
The rain had stopped when I left and I climbed steadily up to 900m before sailing down into Kavak for another meal. This time I had Paça soup ...
... the back sreets of Kaleici and at every intersection we would turn to each other and say, "right? left?" "you decide" "Ok, left". This led us down to the water front where we were talked into a 1 hour boat ride which quickly turned into a 2 hour boat ride. The price dropped from 80 Euros for the two of us to 60 YTL for the 2 of us or about $40.00. We went back to the room to get some stuff and a bathing suit and ...

Samsun, Turkish Black Sea Coast, Turkey leiks... of historical events that it has given the world. Let's begin, shall we? 1. First and foremost the place has been inhabited since 5500 BC. Enough said. 2. Alexander the Great came through in the 4th century BC. What did he do? He conquered it. That's what good 'ol Alexander did best. 3. The city was a center of activity for the Kingdom of Pontus and many of the kings were buried in the cliffs above the city. Now only the empty ...
Amasya, Turkey jon_and_liz... amphitheatre. There must be something about the acoustics that makes people do that. And the funny thing is everyone around them all stop and listen whether they are good or bad.??!! During our stop there a Turkish man sang a song and after him a Korean lady (I think) sang something.
Antalya, Turkey costa07... ty here moneywıse. Durıng a stock market crash several banks got shut down and thousands upon thousands of people just lost Everythıng, wıth no way of ever gettıng any of theır money or savıngs back. It ıs not even possıble to get a mortgage here - so the landscape ıs lıttered wıth half fınıshed houses, and borrowıng money ıs ıncredıble rısky because the ınterest rates fluctuate so vıolently. Anyway, I'm sure everyone else was already aware of ...
