The day I was turning everyone's head

... on and went out into the world. I know I looked as miserable as I felt, but I knew I wasn't going to see any of these people on the street ever again, so who cares? I had no WiFi, no phone service, no map, and absolutely no idea where I was going. My body hated me for every step that I took, but I'm an independent biatch and I was on a mission for soup. I found a grocery store, but of course soup just wasn't a thing, so I settled for pasta and by ...

... No chance of little fingers getting in there! Actually, they didn't look like they were scoping me out even once so I shouldn't be mean. It was quite interesting and made the rest of the train ride go quite fast. Anyway, got to Bari Centrale station with no mishaps. Had to find my way from the little private tracks over to the TrenItalia part. (Of course that meant a subway with heaps of stairs!) Left my suitcase at left ...

      In Martina Franca

... been hard in the old days for people here. The Trulli houses would have been very cold in winter and probably hot in summer. No power or running water. This area was a very poor area of Italy. The food from here is called Cucina Povera meaning something like peasant food. It's good wholesome food. In demand now. Back in Martina Franca and I love the old area. In the dusk light it just looks beautiful. Especially the Church. There's always a lot of old ...

Day 1. Well I managed to find my way around. The old town is just beautiful. Mostly white buildings and marble paths everywhere. Yay, it's not raining. I just wandered around and found my way to the tourist bureau. Got a better map which included the rest of the town, not just the old town. Had lunch at a recommended restaurant in the old town. I had ravioli with butter and sage dressing and then veal in lemon sauce ...

      Lecce to Martina Franca

... the school times are but the train left Lecce at 12.45 and they were getting off at different stops so obviously finished school. We keep passing fields of solar panels. Good! As we get closer to MF it starts to get a little but hillier. Lots of terraces now. And stone fruit blossom. We pass a lot of the little trulli houses. They're so cute. Look like fairy houses, or hobbit houses. They're everywhere. Beautiful countryside. It's still raining when the train arrives in MF ...
