After failing to master spanish in four days, we decide Scuba diving in half a week is a more attainable goal. We head to one of the world's most cost-effective sites to learn how to Scuba! Utila is the backpacker's choice because it is a cheap, well placed island along the world's second largest coral reef... _ Tim on Utila, a Bay Island off the northern coast of Honduras. _ Sun. Sand. Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras swiftys... rated in the top 5 bars in the world by Lonely Planet). I walked in and saw my buddies from Monterrico; Lyn, Sarah and Taboo. Can you believe it? I knew they were going to Utila, but I thought they would be long gone before I arrived. Apparently they had been stuck on the island because the ferry doesn't run when it rains and it had been raining for days. It was my good luck because it was great to see them and they even put me up in their room.
Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras tonka_eng... br>We had earmarked our cool off to be at a place called The Jade Seahorse, a very eccentric looking restaurant and hotel with a bar aptly called Tree Tanic due to the fact that it resembled a tree house. It was the most bizarre and fascinating place I had seen in a while, with the walls, steps and paved areas covered with bits of mosaic glass and tile work. Truly a work of art. Unfortunately the trend of not being open was being followed here as well so Lyn and I took ...
Utila, Islas de la Bahía, Honduras mardow... is great on saving my pages in my passport, because Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nick a jaguar are all part of the Central American Border Control Agreement (CA-4) <br>We travelled through the western highlands, which I mostly slept through, but initial impressions were that Honduras definitely seems poorer than Guatemala, but is lush, green and beautiful. When we got to San Pedro Sula we were inundated by small kids and taxi ...
Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras hess... later so I guess it gets his thumbs up. The Jade Seahorse/Treetonic is amazing (www.jadeseahorse.com) and definitely worth the hike out of town (or handlebar croggy in my case) to check it out. It’s a maze of different levels and seating levels decorated manically with shiny mirrors and marbles. The toilets are amazing, I even ventured voluntarily into the men’s to admire the decor! Babalu’s is also worth a look, quiet and chilled with draught boards ...

Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras cc_world_tour... kleinen Tour aufgemacht.
Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras doscompletosHard to believe that my last full day in Honduras was already upon me. I can hardly believe that I've been here for 3 weeks. The last week went especially fast as I was kept busy with carting supplies over to the orphanage in addition to my usual daily routine. Keri left from Honduras today. After all that had happened to her with respect to the robbery and the events that followed I was actually surprised that she waited until today to leave. I would have thought that she couldn't wait ...
La Ceiba, Honduras matsamuel... the orphanage. The total amount entrusted to me, through the donations from numerous people, totaled $580 CDN altogether. This was a larger sum than I anticipated would accumulate. And judging from the prices I was seeing here in Honduras, this amount of money would also go much further than I anticipated. I had actually purchased a few random items for the orphanage during my two previous weeks here. But it was only small items such as scissors, glue and a stapler that was needed ...
La Ceiba, Honduras matsamuel... for parapalegics, by one of the other children. As I was about to dig in I noticed that they began to hold hands around the table to form a circle. I quickly placed the burger back in the plate and joined the circle following their example. Then they all closed their eyes and bowed their heads to say grace with Daisy leading the prayer. This orphanage has no direct affiliation with a church, that I was aware of, but still I almost felt embarrased that I had been ...
