Port Louis, Port Louis, Mauritius vmarchal... whole hallway only a few out of about one hundred got their laundry back in time. To solve this problem we both took a water taxi over to the waterfront and went in a mall and actually found a Quicksilver store. Knowing that we would be wearing our swim suits the whole time, we only bought a couple t-shirts and then headed back to the ship. Once back it was about 11 a.m., just in time for our shuttle pick up. We stood out ...
Flic En Flac, Mauritius vanderby... 30 we were allowed to board the 737. The pilot was not too comforting when he made his welcome comments to the passengers. He informed us that he had taken on a lot of extra fuel, so that we'd have enough "for several landing attempts" in Mauritius. That didn't sound very reassuring. Then after encouraging us to "sit back and relax" as they always seem to do, he finished by saying "I hope you'll enjoy this ...
Quatre Bornes, Mauritius joelmeeker... beautiful. I had a bath and Darren had a sleep (and dreamt about Country Week), and we´ve unpacked and may now launch an assault on the bottle of champagne and fruit platter that came with the room before going for bit of a walk, probably, before dinner. I think it´s going to feel like a long afternoon and evening until a reasonable time to go to bed, but it´s lovely to be on holidays!
Pereybere, Mauritius penny71... We picked up all the essentials and came home. The maid said we could take the BBQ up to the roof so we did and cooked up a stron. Our patented tandoori chicken and local sausage and onion skewers that we made as well as obligatory corn curls, our new found favourite snack. They are very much like nik naks, but not quite as crunchy but more filling - nice! After a few glasses of punch, some food and card games it was 2 olock and time for bed!
Pamplemousses, Mauritius b.herring... island paradise in the popular imagination, a reputation it thoroughly deserves. Mauritius has an interesting history of ethnic immigration that offers to the traveler a microcosm of world cultures in addition to its amazing natural beauty. Mauritius has the unmistakable advantage of being a country whose attractions do not play 'hard-to-get'-once you get to the island of course! Most of the sights and sounds of the island are within easy ...
Port Louis, Mauritius pintu... right next to the rice and beans. This place is insane. Crazy, but somehow exciting. You never know what you're going to see. Dogs roam everywhere, but cats do even more so throughout the streets and the indoor meat markets. Men standing at the counter to purchase their freshly butchered cow were greeted by a cat sniffing the pieces of flesh already laid out on the counter. I suppose after knowing that a cat has probably licked your dinner a fly doesn ...
Port Louis, Mauritius hayesbkWe finally arrived in Mauritius. The hotel is awesome, lots of little thatched huts along the beach in between tons of palm trees. We had some clouds today, but white boy over here still got a little burned. Because of the French influence, I am working on a good tan as well! The water is super clear and warm! Tomorrow ...
Trou aux Biches, Mauritius lindsaygeorge... feet off the waterfall into the water. It was the exhilarating to jump into the cool waters running down from the waterfall. We swam for a while and then found another little lagoon down a little and did some more swimming. We went further down to the other series of waterfalls, and to get down to the largest falls we had to climb down a tree. It was literally climbing down a tree our guide climbed down the tree and then helped us get down. The bottom waterfall was the best ...
Port Louis, Mauritius lc65259... Nikki to the internet café and instead went with Alli, Jaret, and Dana to a restaurant Oceanside. Came back to the boat and fell asleep. This was an okay port but they really didn't have that much to do here, the island is so small. They had museums that I wish I could've gone to but I didn't have enough time. This is one place that I'm glad I visited but I would rather go somewhere else next time. Although it is the home of the extinct dodo bird. (c;
