Sunrise as close to Maceio and then we tantalisingly drove past Praia do Frances about 6.30am, where I wanted to be – silly me, didn't ask them to stop as thought it too early to arrive – if only I had known, it would take me until 10am to get back there, just 20km from Maceio! It turns out they actually had local coffee, brewed, if you’re lucky in a big metal urn, but with lots of sugar added – espresso seems to be the keyword to getting a decent one without sugar! Further on we found a shop that sold all kinds of home decor items...kind of ...

It is such a simple idea but works so well and nice to be on a boat without a roaring noise behind you. It was just a quick visit to Maceió and most of the time was spent at the beach. The next day at the Rodoviaria we were about to board our bus to Salvador and Elin and Marvin turned up. They would be in Salvador at the same time as us which was very exciting ...

... they work for the police and drove me to the hostel, two or three blocks further. Had to promise to go back there another day but didn't see them again. In the hostel i found some nice guys, a pool and a small dormitory room with a good bed. Beda, the swiss guy was cleaning for being able to stay for free, Diego, the argentinian, that wanted to move to brazil to work, bernardino or neto, paulistano on holidays and ...
