Sunrise as close to Maceio and then we tantalisingly drove past Praia do Frances about 6.30am, where I wanted to be – silly me, didn't ask them to stop as thought it too early to arrive – if only I had known, it would take me until 10am to get back there, just 20km from Maceio! What a hideous waste of time and energy, as no direct bus from the terminal – have to go into town and ...

... beaches with "natural pools", one of which I landed in when I slipped on the rocks trying to stay on wet sand – the tread of my boots seems to direct sand to fill them. Then we realized we were late for the tour bus and rushed back through the shopping market, grabbed a 10 real bag of locally grown cashews, apologized to the tour guide ( we were 11 minutes late) who frowned at me for the cashew grab and smiled at Dawn, who wanted the cashews. We were then whisked back to the ship. Another great day in ...

Our next stop was Maceió, a city but with a beach - we just can't seem to leave the coast! We had some difficulty finding our hostel, we managed to get on the right bus from the Rodoviaria but just not get off at the right stop (the directions from the hostel where not great in our defence). After Chris had walked around half the city we decided to get a cab to the hostel which in the heat of the day was a great idea. Maybe we were getting to used ...

      Nice beaches in maceio

A travel blog entry by mathieu27 on Dec 11, 2013

Was quite hot in maceio when i got out of the bus at around 5. Before arriving, the bus passed some nice beaches and a nice river with cottages and islands that lookd really interesting. Really wanted to come back there some day. At the bus terminal, i got into a bus towards the center. Trying to see the names of the streets we passed. Looking on the pre-loaded map on the tablet sometimes. Luckily asked at about the ...
