Unlike a normal conference, we weren't given the option of picking and choosing what workshops we wanted to attend, instead each session built on the previous one and they all linked together in some way over the duration of the institute. There was also a lot of pre-session reading material assigned which had to be completed in advance, particularly as the lecturers were very fond of "cold calling" ie randomly picking people out from the audience to answer ...

    Today was one of the best, we went to Wendy & Charlie's
    Ranch. Before I get ahead of myself...

    ... out the more happening beach in downtown Cabo yesterday, Playa El Medano, we decided to climb over those rocks we came across. A local was angling for tips, helping people back and forth over the rocks - I definitely had more appreciation for somebody like that, than the vultures who work the marina in downtown Cabo. It was quite the ordeal yesterday, running the gauntlet of vendors and tour operators - I always wonder if they understand ...

    Off to bed early last night as we had to be off the ship by about 0800 to meet our tour on the pier. Cabo San Lucas is a tender port & it sometimes takes a while to get off of the ship. Once in Cabo, we were the third cruise ship to anchor in the harbour, and send passengers ashore.     ... this joint was amazing - Katrina made the most of it and ordered the 'Wally's Special' which was lobster and ribeye while I went for a Mexican combo and the girls tucked into some tacos. At one point we had the in house band come over and give us a rendition of 'Tequila'. It was probably a bit corny but the girls loved it. By the time we knocked it on the head it was 9pm. So it was back to the room for some in room dining dessert and off to nigh ...
