... there are good and bad things but even the "bad " things were not that bad.

If you come to the Dominican I would suggest that you already have a "pre-ride" to the hotel set up. Because, with out a doubt, I got ripped off on the cabs that I took (I knew this going in and I literally did nothing about it. I was the dumb American in this scenario.) ... He became very excited and agitated all at once. Since he spoke broken English it was hard to tell what side he fell on. Long story short my new "Friend" told him, "all right you've said enough! You have to go now." In a nut shell this guy was making everyone nervous.

... bullfrogs are busy chattering all around you adding to the atmosphere. I would not have thought that the atmosphere could be topped, but the food and service did just that. Several waiters are constantly busy doting on you to make sure that you have everything you require. They are there just when you need them, but are unobtrusive at the same time. ... beloved wasn't meant to live on an island and we were both shaken.

It didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves (although the hummingbird-sized cockroach by our cottage door almost did), but reminded me that it's best to take it slow with a travel-newbie. One day we'll laugh about Dave puking in the turtle pond, thus giving the little snappers the buffet of a lifetime, but even now (March 2015) it's a sore subject. On our next adventure together, we'll be better prepared.

Patrick spent much of the night in the bathroom. Time for stronger measures. After packing, having coffee in the room ( me, not Patrick) calling the bell boy, putting the bags in security, grabbing some bananas, bread and water we headed for the Drs. The doctor was great.
