... Barrier Reef all rolled into one! Half way up we realised, we were pushing it to get back in time to collect our laundry which we’d dropped off on our way out from the hotel. We weren’t too concerned as we had a few extra days and could collect it on Monday morning. Wendy, on the other hand, was leaving the next morning at 5am and had no way of collecting her pile. We went through various “what ifs” just in case we didn’t make it back, ...

... impressive, so I was pretty excited to get up to Sugarloaf and see what it was like from the top. We saw that there was about twenty minutes to wait for the next cable car to the top of Sugarloaf, and the Russian guys were all in the line for it, so we decided to get an ašai while we waited for the next cable car. I’m absolutely addicted to ašai now. It’s so ridiculously expensive everywhere in the world except for in Brazil, so ...

On Tuesday, we decided on a 'light' event day and just visited the Botanical Gardens. Very well kept and the good layout. The orchid house was a feature of this garden as well as a cactus section. I was starting to go down with something with temp and hot /cold flushes, so after lunch (which Simmy brought at a hortifruity - thats local lingo for fruit//vege shop.) we headed back to our accomodation ...

... views from the top were phenomenal, and watching the sun set behind Christ the Redeemer is something we will never forget.
On the way back to Copacabana we ditched the minibus, deciding it would be faster to walk than queue in traffic, walked about a mile in the opposite direction of the hostel before doubling back and stopping for a delicious steak en route! Never had food tasted so good, and it isn't often you get to eat overlooking Copacabana beach!
