... went for an explore of Cairns, finding a nice public lagoon and plenty of bars and restaurants, getting a good $10 deal which included steak and a pint!

After a good night sleep (although waking up at 4am due to the jet lag) we are ready to get some breakfast and book our tour to Cape Tribulation and the Great Barrier Reef!
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ozandbeyond... the jungle by day. Mark and Claire have both been super helpful and given us all their stuff to borrow and helped us sort it all out.
We did have time to quickly put another paper mashay layer on to our zombie hands and when we get back from our trip we've already bought some poster paints to get creative with. We'll have a few big updates for when we get back and hopefully lots of nice photos.

Gaz & LJ
Cairns, Queensland, Australia gaz-lj... a tourist village in the middle of the rainforest above Cairns, with a range of wildlife tours/parks and markets selling ‘alternative’ wares. We had a look around the village, especially the galleries displaying Aboriginal art and Australian photography and grabbed some hangover friendly lunch at a little café. All in all, it was very enjoyable; the village is pretty and laid back.

On our way to Port Douglas, we stopped at a couple of the ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia rachandstu... the return trip!!!!!!!!!!! (Edna says was hellish) took us down in a cable car - she was ******** herself (good photos to prove it). Ed was sure he saw Ant and Dec in the jungle! Getting excited about seeing Frances tomorrow, off to Brisbane in the afternoon and it sounds like she has planned something wonderful for us for the first couple of days ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ednabuchanThank you all for the good wishes, cards (money), texts and birthday messages sent to Linda and I for our birthday - much appreciated. And what a birthday it was! We spent it at the Great Barrier Reef - Wow! I went diving on the Reef and Linda lost her teeth! Well I have to explain that she didn't exactly lose them - she misplaced them last night after Dennis treated us to a birthday meal (with a few glasses of sparkling ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia ednabuchan... jerk when the shute was pulled and then we were drifting down gently. I was a little glad when this came, not because the freefall wasn't cool, but my ears didn't adjust to the pressure very well and were hurting a bit. Apparently it happens sometimes. We turned right and left and right and left as we lowered to the drop site below us. I'm glad I have a strong stomach for that sort of thing! Landing I was told to lift my legs and feet as high as I could and put ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia kkherbst... River to Adels Grove, Lawn Hill

Another big driving day, 380 kms on a rough, dirt road to Lawn Hill National Park. The day was not without it’s excitement as we had our second experience of getting lost in the outback. We had to go through a whole series of farm gates which were helpfully labeled with our direction – except the vital last one which had no instructions... so we didn’t go through it and veered off to the right. BIG MISTAKE ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia liznrob... the West end not Fortitude Valley and there is masses to do within a radius of an hour or two's drive from the centre of Brisbane. .. Byron Bay, the Gold coast, the Sunshine coast, Mountain Tamborine and the Sunshine Hinterland of Montville and Maleny. It was also fantastic to spend so much time with Hamish and Jackie and get an insight into their life in Oz and a better understanding as to why they have chosen to live there and in Brisbane.
Cairns, Queensland, Australia hess... days. The crew were absolutely insane. They grabbed all of our alcohol and threw it into a big pot so we were all drinking from the same stash. They had us sing ridiculous songs and play ridiculous games involving an orange, a snorkle, and a long rope. (I won't elaborate further in the chance that my mother is reading...) It definitely ratcheted up the party. But more importantly, I got to do some real deal sailing on the ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia bobbyvegas... Ah bless young love supposedly they didn't really get the joke, shrugged their shoulders and got off the bus. Anyway while all this went on we sat on the beach and relaxed for few hours eating our pre- packed sandwiches living the high life. The next day we got a little sailboat out to the Great Barrier Reef and Green Island. The reef was great and the boat was quite relaxing as mostly we travelled under sail and not motor. We went snorkelling on the ...
