Disappointed
from A TripAdvisor User on 2005-12-30
The picture on the website of the bedroom was quite deceiving.
I think our room had not been updated since WWII.
A double with a single cot pushed up literally next to the window.
No soundproofing at all. The noise was awful, Outside and in.
The lifts too small. Cigerette smoke permeated throughout the halls and even in our room
Service ok but not very friendly.
Overpriced. Not close to Metro or Eiffel at all.
Good note: clean sheets and hot water. Thanks goodness we were only there to sleep when the lack of noise permitted.
A good choice for a family

We stayed at Trocadaro la Tour in June 2005.
We were pleased.
The location was what we hoped to find - a quiet location in a residential area that allowed us to wander to the local fruit market and patisserie every morning to forage a delicious breakfast of pastries, yogurt and fresh fruit. Rue de Passy offers excellent shopping and is largely populated by Moms or Grandmothers with children during weekdays. The Bois de Bologne and other parks with donkey rides, puppet shows and playgrounds are close by. There are Metro stations and rer stations within an easy walk. The Tour and the Trocadero Gardens are within walking distance but it is a good walk - probably 20 minutes. There are restaurants close by, but we often travelled to other districts to find interesting restaurant choices. Cabs (including to the airport) are not easily available and must be booked in advance.
The exterior and the lobby, including a little bar and breakfast room and terrace, the one person brass elevator are charming - black and white marble floors, gleaming woodwork.
Our room had a huge bathroom with tub (shower in tub), toilet and bidet and a sink and hairdryer, was appointed with a beautiful marble topped dresser and was very quiet and airconditioned.
The rooms are worn though - wallpaper and paint and carpeting is old (not just dated) and as a result, does not look particularly clean. We had two singles and a cot in the main room with another cot in a tiny second room. It was a luxury to have a bed for each of us, but the beds were small and the mattresses weren't terrific.
The staff were also charming and always helpful.
A little disappointing...

We knew when we booked this hotel, that it was going to be a 'just a place to sleep' hotel. But, it was actually even less appealing than I was expecting. This hotel is definitely overpriced and uses the fact that it's supposedly "near the Eiffel Tower" to account for that price (more on that later).
Pretty average hotel, with an elevator that only fit one person (with luggage) at a time. The room was really small and was not upgraded at all in probably 30 years, but to be fair, it was adequate. There's a tiny balcony-ish type of thing off the window, but you can't really stand there, much less sit. It was actually pretty clean too, but I was not impressed to discover that after our first night, the maid didn't change the sheets. I'd accidentally marked the sheet with a pen that I dropped, and the second day (after maid service) the pen mark was still there. Maybe they're saving water by not washing the sheets since we were staying 2 nights?? If so, we weren't informed that this was the case. Makes you wonder...
My husband and I chose Hotel Trocadero because we wanted to experience staying in different locations in Paris. Our first hotel was 5 minutes from the Louvre (Jolly Lotti, which was more $, but I recommend it) and this one was supposed to be by the Eiffel Tower. It really wasn't...! It's possible that we didn't find the easiest/quickest way to get there, but to call this hotel "Trocadero LA TOUR" and say that it's close to the Eiffel Tower simply isn't true. On our map, the Eiffel Tower appeared far enough away to warrant a metro trip to get there - to me, that's not "close".
The staff were friendly enough, and our shuttle to get to the airport was very well organized. However, there really wasn't anything of interest to see in the surrounding area. I guess another perspective would be that you really get a feel for what it's like to to live in Paris when you're staying in this neighborhood. It's far from touristy and the shops etc. are definitely patronized by the locals.
All in all, our stay was a disappointing one, and unless you get a great deal, I would suggest looking around for another hotel before booking this one.
Want to be treated like a liar? come to the Trocadero...

I checked out of the Trocadero only two days ago with terrible experience.
I was travelling with my father and booked a twin room for Euro 109 per night on the internet.
On arrival I showed my booking and they gave me a room with one double bed and one single bed.
When I checked out on the third day, the day-time manager asked me to pay 20% extra because I stayed in a triple room. I told him the size of the room was irrelevant because I had a confirmed booking for a twin. The guy then asserted me that he knew there were three people staying in our room because the cleaning lady said so. I told him it was impossible, because there were only two of us travelling. Still he insisted I was not telling the truth. I was furious, and asked if he expects a daughter to share a double bed with her father to avoid being suspected with what he was accusing me of. He was taken aback. But all he said was"ok then". No apologies.
The peeling paints, rooms that are half the size of those shown on the hotel's website photos, lift that carries max two person plus two luggages wall to wall, bath tub without curtain, and the 10 minutes walk from the nearest metro station were relatively sufferable compared to the rudeness. To be fair I must mention my high regards for the night time manager, who is extremely nice and helpful, and it's true the hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood within 20 min walking distance of the Effel Tower. But the Trocadero is definitely not worth any of its claimed stars as it has no regards for anything other than money.
Wonderful location
from A TripAdvisor User on 2004-07-13
I stayed at the hotel for five nights in June 2004 and opted for one notch above a standard single. This produced a large queen bedroom with a reasonably roomy adjoining bathroom (shower stall, no tub). Closets were between the hall door and an interior door, which added considerably to the quietude. On the top floor, there are views over the rooftops, plenty of light, and a nice breeze. The room included cable TV, a minibar, an armchair, a desk, and good reading lights. No complaints, except for a night desk attendant who would do nothing until morning about something that had blown loose on the roof (a door? a gate? a locomotive?) and produced loud noises.
The real draw is the location, which is wonderful. The hotel sits a few doors from the rue de Passy, which offers excellent shopping, including the incredible rue de l'Assomption, a pedestrian street lined with food shops. The nearest Metro (La Muette) is a short five-minute stroll down rue de Passy. The entire area is toney and not far from the Musee Marmottan (Monet) and the Bois de Boulogne. Great restos, brasseries, and cafes all over the place. I did not opt for the hotel breakfasts but did walk to the nearest cafe for the same food at half the price.
Very Nice! I'll stay there again.

I loved Hotel Trocadero and so did my 3 children. We had a wonderful room with 2 twin beds, a cot, and another small room with a twin bed in there. For a change, we all had our own beds! The hotel is extremely clean and quiet. The bathrooms were fantastic, too - big & clean. The front desk gentlemen were extremely kind and helpful too. We spent 2 nights there on May 31 & June 1, 2004. Warning: Parking is horrible. No place outside of hotel unless you are there at the right time - which we never were! The parking garage they suggested to park was extremely small, extremely expensive, and about 2 blocks away. The hotel was very close to the Eiffel Tower and many places to eat and see. Be sure to walk to the Trocadero Palace at 10 p.m. each night to watch the beautiful strob lights on the Eiffel Tower. It's a site you will never forget! Very romantic! I would recommend this hotel if you want a nice and quiet place to stay. Beautiful decor, too!
A Great Little Hotel...
from A TripAdvisor User on 2004-04-21
We stayed in this hotel in July of 2003. It was our first trip to Paris. The location of the hotel is great. It is very close to many different attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero Palace. There are several Metro lines within a 5-10 minute walk.
However, the hotel is removed from the noise and bustle and is located on a lovely quiet street. If your'e looking for nightlife and late-night cafes at your doorstep, this is not a good location for you.
We came back from Moulin Rouge around 1:00am one night and were dying for anything to eat...but unfortunately we strolled around the neighborhood for almost an hour without any success. The lobby/bar area of the hotel is small but very beautiful. The same goes for the breakfast room. Breakfast is not included in the price and although the croissants and cafe-au-lait were excellent, they were also quite pricey, at 13 Euro/per person. You can get just as nice a breakfast at almost any cafe for less than half the price. The room was not we had hoped, but it was adequate. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
However, the rugs wallpaper and bed linens could stand to be updated.
The bathroom was very large and clean and the shower had excellent water pressure. We were on the 6th floor facing the street and we had a lovely rooftop view of Paris from our little veranda. All rooms have AC.If you don't care about a fancy room, this place is great. It's very reasonably priced and clean. We were so busy sightseeing and "partying" we barely spent more than 6 hours a night in the room. (we figured we could catch up on sleep after our vacation). The staff was very nice and helpful. Sam, the manger, is a sweetheart. We arrived at 10:00am and he made sure we could check in early (as normal check in is at 1:00). He was also able to suggest many nearby restaurants and sights.
Nearly everyone working at the hotel speaks english. Don't believe what everyone says about the Parisians hating Americans. We found the people of Paris to be very friendly and helpful! Especially at Hotel Trocadero. But back to the fateful night when we couldn't find al ate night snack. After our unsuccessful search, we returned to the hotel and asked the night deskman if there were any places to eat. He didn't speak much english, but he understood what we wanted. He asked us to wait, and moments later he appeared with a tray filled with chocolate croissants, mini baguettes and butter/jams! He was so nice! We were so happy and thankful to have somethiing to soak up some of the wine in our bellies!Overall, I would say this a great, no frills hotel!
Definitley worth checking out and highly reccommended for the first timer in Paris. You be spending much time in your room anyway!
Good Hotel, Great location!
from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-05-16
We stayed at the Trocadero la Tour Hotel in Paris in April 2003. It was lovely. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a pretty little balcony so you can look out at this pretty little side street. Walk to the corner, literally 1 minute and as you look to the left their is the top of the Eiffel Tower! A short train ride to the Eiffel or about a 15 minute walk. Within 5 minute walk to the metro station. Their are beautiful little shops all along this neighborhood called Passy. In the morning enjoy fresh pastries or fruit from the local shops. And yes for you die hard Americans you are within a 5 minute walk to McDonalds. Enjoy Paris! It was the highlight of my life!
Just okay

I can only say three good things about this little place. It was on a quite street, good a.c. and clean. People were not friendly or helpful. My single 106.00 euro room was, 9 feet by 9. The elevator was a single person lift. It was a long walk to the train stations. I won't return.
