... by the weather which was lovely for the first few hours following our arrival by ferry at the end of the pier and I even fell asleep on the fine, pale sandy beach for a while and dipped my toes in the Baltic Sea. But that's really where the fun ended. And the decent weather. The rest of the time we spent dodging showers and looking for things worth looking at.
- I write this with cheesy Polish pop blaring from a speaker above my head sitting on a ferry that will take Gary and me from the wharf in Gdansk town to Sopot, on the Baltic coast. Our stay in Gdansk was even better than we'd expected, starting with the very high-end apartment just outside the of town in a block that must have only just been renovated. Our two night stay included walks around the old town and along the river, joining in Gdansk's first ever gay pride ...

... my constant complaints as we crossed Russia was the total lack of any information in anything but Russian, but in Kaliningrad, it is almost bi-lingual – Russian & German!
We were here for only two nights, with the day in between to explore, and believe me, that was plenty of time. We did some research before coming here and decided that we wanted to visit the Bunker Museum, ...
... very little international travel. New language, new food, new vistas etc. The people are fantastically generous. We look forward to keeping you posted with our posts.
