... in the sand and stumbling along the beach. North Goa was good to see for a few days, but it's not somewhere to go if your looking for the real India. What is quite upsetting is the amount of rubbish that is everywhere, not just Goa, but all across India. It ruins a place like Goa which could be so beautiful. We left Goa for Hampi which is in the central state of Karnataka. The bungalows which we found to stay in for only 400RPS a night (approx ...

... It wasn't the greatest beach. No helped by all the beach huts some in a state of disrepair along our stretch. Not many people around as it's low season. No cafés or restaurants along the beach either which was also disappointing. There were a few restaurants in town one of which we returned to a few times. On Tuesday it was Benaulim's turn and I decided to have a balcony party. My room looks straight on to the main road so we had a great view of the procession. Rachel, Trevor, Helena Basti and gathered with a fridge full of alcohol and some snacks. The floats were all late and there were only about 6 of them. There were more scooters and bikes than anything else. Not much to look at but we had a great time on the balcony.

... Goa. The once beautiful beach of Baga is still attempted to be kept clean but as I watched a wealthy Indian family change their babies diaper then throw it into the sea I realised that it wouldn’t take long for Goa to now catch up with the rest of India. Goan’s always took pride in their state, rubbish was disposed of, beaches were kept clean but now plastic bottles and diapers are beginning to overtake the natural foliage. The general Indian mentality towards waste is ...

... abdomen, looks at my eyes. Says probably "enteric fever" and dehydration. Thinks maybe caused by food poisoning. Gives me shot to lower fever (I watched carefully to be sure the syringe, etc was new and sealed) & says I need to go to hospital for "drips" (i.v. fluids) & observation. ****! Thought he might say that. He recommends a hospital in nearby town and says it's the best one. I make sure it's a private hospital, not ...
