      Que de pluie depuis ce matin, quand nous avons quitté Dammarie, quand nous avons roulé, très souvent depuis que nous sommes à Vichy.

      ... phone calls, found a dentist and tooth duly repaired. Then to the Post Office, supposedly to collect 2 parcels from Aus., of Boomer spares. No such luck! No parcels! Helpful staff tried lots of options, then "come back tomorrow" and "fill out a complaint form"!!!! Lunch, then looked at the "black" Gothic cathedral of Notre Dame, made of local volcanic rock. Closed for lunch, so could not look inside. Wandered the streets of the Old Town. ...

      ... and Clermont-Ferrand became home. Most shops were closed for the month of August when those who could afford it took their 'congé annuel'. We hung out with those who didn't jet off to the Riviera, a demographic of the population who live day by day and who seemed to appreciate us strangers as a welcome distraction. We, in turn, appreciated the company and there were more than a few farewells to deliver at the end of the month.

      ... of soccer. We used a real ball - boy it is hard to kick and stop a shot. A lot bigger than the ball Caleb and I are used to using. Caleb and Christine then went over for a final visit and ping pong with the group at Kassim's complex. For the third time we had our salmon wrapped fish dinner. Still awesome. Mmm....
