Chester
... sluices were opened and closed in the correct sequence.
After that had a meal at the Queen Victoria which is a very old pub, and then a walk around the shops in the old town. The shops are at ground level and also on an upper level. Ellesmere
Back down the motorway on Thursday to Ellesmere Port where the Waterways museum is. I guess you have to like boats, especially narrow boats, to enjoy a day out here. Just like yeaterday the weather was kind n the morning, but by 3.30 it was getting dark and cold.
still, we had a good look around the museum and spent about three hours there. Lots of things to see and in summer there are boat trips up the canal.
A good day out.

Weekends are the only time some places are open so we need to plan ahead and check opening times on the internet before ...
Walled City

We walked around the upper part of the original wall and stood on the look out for the main gates over the original bridge into Chester, it has a weir running beneath it and was very picturesque . Followed the wall to other gates and features including a Roman garden beside the wall, there was a young children's ...
