... on the Ligurian Coast but there was little to get me excited today. The photos taken were from the train and I guess because the track ran below the roads our view was obstructed by very tall trees.

Locarno was pretty enough and everyone there speaks Italian as their first language.

The ferry ride back to Stresa took 3 hours and due to the haze over the region, not all the cascading ...

... the sweetest cantaloupe-like melon slices ever consumed. Of course we had wine from the region, a light fruity but not sweet wine called Bianco D’Oro.

We said our goodbyes to Elisabetta…the Swiss do a three-kiss thing for both greeting and goodbye. We were happy for her assistance and knowledge of the area, but also think she enjoyed our zaniness.

All four of us headed for a gelato down in the city. The market had already folded ...

... frigid lake for my daily ceremonial swim. Finally, a bit further, the gorge opens up a bit, and there are big patches of grass interrupting the endless forest. It's quite refreshing to see... it seems like it's been forever since I last saw open space. Day 274 6 hrs, 13 kms According to Google Maps, it's not possible to create a walking map up across Splugenpass. I'm hoping that that's only because when Google Maps comes across a tunnel, they automatically assume that pedestrians aren't allowed through it. Hoping... But doing a little research I found that there's supposed to be a hiking trail up towards the pass. That would be perfect... if I can find it! I follow a rather pedestrian ...
