It was a short trip to Rotorua, although fairly extraordinary looking into the bush and seeing steam rising out at random intervals, this is due to more geothermal activity, namely hot pools and geysers! It was a short drive from the cow farm to Rotorua. We picked up lunch in a small village, the Kiwi's love pies, so we indulged in this local cuisine. They were a good lining in our stomachs, preparation for the delightful aromas that this highly volcanic area gives off. The Rotorua area is famed for violent geysers, bubbling mud and eerie colour...

I took the bus to Rotorua last night so I could see some of the hot springs and other thermal phenomenon. The city smelled of sulfur but it wasn't that bad. I ended up not doing anythign I had planned but visited a internet cafe and updated some journal entries and watched the Christmas parade they had afternoon. More later...
