To love or not, is a question

... the day I signed on the ship. The romance, the affair, the human side of me should be hidden under a heavy blanket and away from sun rays. La passion, the fountain of joy and trouble all together. What a dilemma! Stop thinking romantically can be such a easy tool to alienate one from another. What a handy tool to be left out the drama, the commotion, the madding crowd. Locked up. Emptied ...

Watched the said out from Cochin and it was very pretty at night time. Indians on the wharf waving to us. Beautiful backwaters

... interesting watching the houseboats being built that rest like skeletons on the banks. JOEL: Happy new year to all! We celebrated xmas by the sea in Varkala where we spent a very relaxing week in a beach hut away from the hustle bustle of the north cliff, eating lots of fish tikka, doing some yoga and generally taking the pace down to zero! We had been moving about a fair bit so it was great to just stop for a while. we did a couple of days on the backwaters, doing a ...

Thekkady: Ayurveda, elephants, Periyar Tiger Resrv

... that was about 1/2 inch long and hotter than a pistol, marveled at vanilla, an orchid which has no smell until it's processed. Louisa got treated to a yellow fingernail courtesy of the turmeric root, which is also what they use in traditional dance for yellow makeup. He showed us a ladder made of bamboo - it's one bamboo pole with hard twigs of about 6" left on one side. You use the twigs as steps. Sounds dangerous ...

... have to pay. Still I wanted to see the lake so I went off and left Paul to watch Four Weddings and a Funeral on the TV in the hotel room. Despite being full of noisy Indian tourists I saw a few things on the banks of the lake which included; a red mongoose, deer, kingfishers, cormorants and wild boar. There are wild elephants in the park but they are very elusive so we didn't get to see any unfortunately.

Weekend of Tests

... sympathetic to older people than to little kids. Don't know why. When we got there, we stayed at the Green View homestay. It was so gorgeous and relatively cheap for its location. It backed on to the forest and then further away you could see the hills. In the morning, we would find monkeys swinging around the trees from our balcony, and since we were so high up, the weather was rather mild. All of us ended up wearing long sleeve shirts and jeans for the weekend, that's how ...

India Reflection

... if you are unaware and/or uneducated. It was also interesting to hear different perspectives from representatives all over the world, especially in regards to the war in Iraq. It was quite an experience being on the "outside looking in". I guess another thing that I know I will never forget about India is the hospitality that was shown to us. A year ago in my individual's practice course, I had to pick a different culture or country (I chose India) to study and write a paper about. In ...

Pills, Thrills n Bellyaches

... shrouded in mist. After 2 hours of climbing we arrived in the town of Thekkady and drove through the gates of Spice Village - wrong resort! Our driver then had a chat with the security guard and was informed that we'd have to backtrack for fifteen minutes until we saw signs for Shalimar Spice Garden. Lo and behold, the sign was there, and off we went down another twisty-turny lane and then branched off up a pot-holed track which led to the spectacular entrance to beat all other ...
