On our way to Sidmouth we stopped Restormel Castle. We are definitely getting our monies worth from our English Heritage pass. With this pass (that we bought in Dover in June) you get free admission to all English Heritage sites and a discount (half price) in most other sites throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. They charged us £36 for excess then, as the plane was too heavy for take off, they had the cheek to take ...

Visit to the gardens and to the college to see the famous avenue of Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle trees). Particularly impressed by the Italian garden and the Palm House, which is actually older than the one at RBG Kew. A treat to see the monkey puzzle avenue too - the trees are the largest of their kind that I've ...

... for when we need to alter our tyre pressures for driving through treacle sands - sun blocks, hats, string & pegs, wet wipes, shades. We've even bought Chinese sauces to make the impala & kudu steaks taste nicer and a water filter in case we need to use it.
Spare batteries for the various torches and plenty of gb's for the cameras. Phew, it seems to be never ending - will we have space for our clothes I wonder??

    So ...
