    ... rolling hills and farmland. First stop Dulverton to visit the NP centre. Lady was most helpful. This is a lovely quaint archetypical English village with narrow streets, old buildings and apparent chaos. Having said we had seen very little wildlife, there were heaps of pheasants on the road out from Dulverton and had to slow to miss quite a few. There were several as road kill. They tend to want to run rather than fly - at their peril! They do have lovely colourful plumage ...

    ... you can't remove them but it's a pretty awesome sight. You have to get to Monmouth Beach and just keep wandering west. There are so many interesting rocks here and yes, I just used the words "interesting" and "rocks" concurrently in the same sentence. And the size of the fossils! I ran ahead of Tarrant looking for this graveyard, losing hope as I got closer ...

    ... we did that. As for the museum, we just couldn't go. You can't pay individually for an attraction, if you want to see one you have to pay for them all and that, my friends, is ****.

    We got a map and directions to the start of the gorge walk from a lovely helpful bloke at the National Trust ...

    OMG 3 more sleeps and then we're off on our trip!!

    ... for when we need to alter our tyre pressures for driving through treacle sands - sun blocks, hats, string & pegs, wet wipes, shades. We've even bought Chinese sauces to make the impala & kudu steaks taste nicer and a water filter in case we need to use it.
    Spare batteries for the various torches and plenty of gb's for the cameras. Phew, it seems to be never ending - will we have space for our clothes I wonder??
