... We were just under 8,000 ft high and there were signs directing no rock throwing due to hikers below. The rock formations were spectacular...with various red/orange/tan colors forming vein-like streams throughout the canyon walls. The colors were just breathtaking I tell you. The third (and best to us) was the Devil's Lookout. The trail was pretty muddy but this one had a railing that was "made" to be hung off of. Leaning out over the edge of the canyon was awesome. I was hoping ...
Salida, Colorado, United States ktowers86... Denver, but when we got there we were pleasantly surprised and our room had views of the mountains. We went out for dinner at a restaurant next door and then returned back to our motel to get some well earned rest before continuing on the next day. It felt great to have finally begun the roadtrip part of our journey and we were feeling excited about the adventures yet to come!
... a few microbrewery brews from Colorado. I accidently left my guide book on a log at the camp site before Kremmling, and Matty left the map behind after, at a camp site that was closed due to tree danger. Wondering what they meant by this we went in to find load of trees had fallen over. The place was rotting and looked as if it had been closed for some time. We camped there anyway; I put my tent out in the clear and next to picnic table just in case.
The ...
Sorry that there was no blog yesterday but there was no Wi-Fi because of the heavy storms in the afternoon. I did not sleep well because of dreams of 15 % grades for 10 miles in my face with the head winds of the day before. This would be the highest climb of the trip and I was apprehensive to say the least. When the climb did come it was never over 8% grade and most was in the 4 to 6 % but it did go on for 9 miles, my speed at ...
Salida, Colorado, United States bot989I will be brief as I am on the world's oldest computer in reception in a rubbish motel. I also have little to say. I have made it to Salida, on a fairly easy day. The fun really starts tomorrow though, with a 4000ft climb first up. I suspect that I will be back to breaking my balls just to get by until the end now. So, I must make sure that I get up really early now and get the riding done before ...
Salida, Colorado, United States zal1981It was sad to have to leave Denver this morning because we realised all too soon it signified the tail end of our trip. We made our way back down to Colorado Springs where we pulled in at the Air Force Academy. What a campus! This place is like a small city. It is absolutely enormous and so spread out. What we really came to see was the Cadet Chapel which is apparently the third most visited tourist attraction in Colorado! The chapel itself has a ...
Salida, Colorado, United States judencharlie... just jumped into the car with them with the minimals and we took off. I was fortunate enough to come upon this opportunity because I let Nick know that I was in town and he just happened to set the trip up for the weekend right when I was free and he invited me. Who was I to say no... The drive was a little over 2 hours. We passed South Park on the way. THE South Park ...

Cotopaxi, Colorado, United States eyerideWe all woke feeling as tired as you would expect as we have by this stage been camping for around 20 days in the last month.Today was a short day as we were only covering 40 miles and so by midday we had crossed the barren landscape and were all in Sargent's which is at the base of the largest ascent, the ascent to Monarch Pass. It would be fair to say that we were all looking forward to ...
Sargents, Colorado, United States eyeride... a bluff. Unfortunately, modern day people have defaced it with their own names, graffiti, and other junk. Its really too bad. After that, we stopped at Fort Laramie. It wasnt quite what I expected, no wall around the fort or anything. There were a few buildings around, and a cannon. After that, we spent the rest of the day driving. We'd gotten in contact with the other guys that were supposed to go on the rafting trip, and decided ...
