    ... defensive ring of over 3 kms of city walls that surround what was the medieval city. These walls were started by the Romans around 70 A.D. and over the centuries added to until 1070 when the invading Normans built a Castle which completed the full circuit of the city to what it is today.     ... Beatles played nearly 300 shows. It was a pretty surreal experience to sit watching a local guy play some Beatles covers on the exact stage the band used to play on. Another exhibit we saw was part of the Maritime Museum on the docks.     ... Things become more industrial on the approach to Middlewich with the huge British Salt works dominating the landscape. The canal on the approach to Middlewich is very wide.
