    ... unlimited soft drinks, 3 colours of wine or beer. Actually the wine was pretty dire, so after an exploratory glass, we stuck to beer for the rest of the week! The evening was accompanied by 2 older gentlemen on guitar and accordion, very accomplished musicians supposedly playing traditional Maltese music, but I wasn’t so sure when I recognised “My Way,” “Zorba’s Dance” and “Hava Nagila”!

    ... Things become more industrial on the approach to Middlewich with the huge British Salt works dominating the landscape. The canal on the approach to Middlewich is very wide. A quick visit to Kings Mill Chandlery for a bit of rope and some screws, oh and directions to the nearest supermarket.     After two days in Middlewich - pressed on a bit. I actually finished up 1.4 miles from where I started - although double that by canal - and had the engine running for 3 hours.

    As I was thinking about setting off a boat with a load of nutters on board came roaring past banging the boat about and knocking things onto the floor. It missed me by about 3 inches. They'd come through the Big Lock - a 14ft wide lock - the only one round here - hence the ...
