    ... for fishing, and several men were doing that today. I spoke to two chaps, one was reeling in a fish, a Mirror Carp, which estimated to be 12 lbs., see photos. Once caught it is released back into the lake to be tempted by someones bait again and again. Carp is the main fish here. (Doesn't seem to be destructive like the European Carp in Australia) According to the notice board catches have been as great as 500 lbs! Fishing competitions are ...

    ... Dove', Sue's retired greyhound was happy when "walkies" was finally announced. The walk was through 'Daisy Bank Pocket Park' of 1 1/2 acres, which is leased by the Parish council of Aston-le-Walls from the County of Northamptonshire for 1 per year.     ... John Ruskin was the one who introduced the dancing round the maypole with ribbons. I remember too that I was NEVER selected to be the May Queen, or any of her maids and I NEVER got to dance around the maypole. Ah well......

    It's another lovely day and we decided to take Mildred for a 'walk'. The staff hoist her into a wheelchair and we made a break for freedom. The River Soar runs through Leicester but has been canalised as part of the Grand Union Canal.
