Return, Day 3: Montréal, QC to North Bay, ON
... will stick. (I would never get there if I stopped to write everything down!)
I took another short walk around the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood of Montréal this morning before departure. It was nice to seem Avenue Laurier in the daylight, with the activity of a Monday morning, and Indy enjoyed squirrel hunting in the little park nearby. We were on the road at 9am.
Québec gave way to Ontario. ...
Not quite superior, but very close!
... town called North Bay, still on Lake Nipissing. I had booked a campsite at Samuel de Champlain provincial Park, just east of North Bay but by 9:30 this evening we were all too tired to even contemplate setting up the tent again and the Travelodge visible from the Highway in North Bay looked pretty inviting. So were stopped and here we are. Ottawa tomorrow...yeah... and we pick up Pete the day ...
We hiked in the rain
... and then took off to find a waterfall. The map they gave us was weird, so it took us a while, and just as we were at the furthest point into the forest, CRASH BAM, the thunderstorm started. So we got out of there as quick as possible, but this was not very fast at all. By the time we were out of the forest, it had stopped raining.
Then we made a pizza in the oven and I fell asleep really really early.

Premiere journée de voyage presque sans anicroches
... sortie, nous l'avions attaché a sa laisse mais il s'en sorti et est parti a courir ... direct dans le VR ... Oufff, ca nous tentait pas de le courir partout sur le camping.
Suzanne a pogné un orage evidemment en conduisant. Ca fait 2 fois qu'elle conduit et ca fait 2 orages qu'elle attrape.

Getting ready, Set, Go!
We've enjoyed a few days in Callander on Callander Bay, Lake Nippising (near North Bay) with friends Judy Skidmore and Phil Hearn. Judy and Phil are long time friends from rugby days and it is always great to get together for good food, wine, port and conversation.
We picked up the trailer Thursday and have had it checked out and bought a few provisions before setting out for Lake Superior early Monday May 28.
Now the adventure really begins.
