... Park Service has stepped in to facilitate tours and save the historical communities - very cool. Then we went to Fort Wilkins State Park which was a wooden fort build in the mid 1800s ... and then we did see very wonderful lakes (notice a pattern here) and trees and vistas and beautiful countryside.
Will be in Canada either tomorrow or Tuesday - enroute to Niagra Falls.

This stop offered a launching point for our day trip around the Keewanau peninsula. It's a small park - maybe 100 acres - which offered a 3/4 mile loop through the woods on which to hike. Dan took the walk and gained some insight as to how Baraga State Park may have come to exist - the park backs up to a state prison (marked by signs past the trail to 'stay out').
