Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada pamericas... t apply when you see a herd of buffalo in and alongside the road. Of course we stopped and so did others. Tourists are like the papparratzi of Hollywood. Wendell even opened the door and stood on the running boards, shouting at one in an attempt to get him to turn his head for the camera. Didn’t work! Mr. Buffalo just kept grazing.

As we drew nearer our destination, we began to wonder if the provincial park would be open….due to ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada dlpool... we stopped right next to him, he was very friendly. Though I got a little nervous when Brad turned off the bike, I would've preferred to keep it running just in case, he was only 6 feet away and over 2,000 lbs! Ah well, It was a very rewarding day for scenery and wildlife, that's what we're on this trip for!

Downside of the trip today, was all the construction. Gravel roads, dust galore - gravel roads and motorcycles dont mix, Its ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada bcgirl... and some place to have dinner. "Boston Pizza" was a nice restaurant with a varied menu and a sports bar. Hazel and I split a double pepperoni, double cheese pizza and it was excellent.

When we returned to the motorhome, we decided to check out the saloon at the campsite. We weren’t expecting too much, considering the condition of the rest of the park, but it was actually not too bad. The food that was being ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada nocknockAs we headed north from Dawson Creek we veered off the path to a section of the “Original Alaska Highway” to see the historic Kiskatinaw River Bridge. This is the world’s largest curved wooden bridge. Every inch is out of wood including the roadway portion. This 531 foot long structure is the only original timber bridge built along the Alaska ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada bwalser... thousands of years to withstand the temperature of the water. On approaching the springs there is a very strong smell of sulphur that is somewhat overpowering, but you get used to it after a while. The pools are free to bathe in and Parks Canada has provided changing rooms and toilet facilities next to Pool A. Following a relaxing soak, we headed back onto the Alaska Highway, pausing at numerous intervals to take pictures of the stunning Rocky Mountain scenery and the abundant ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada jms79... store that is a gas station, RV campground, post office, coffee shop, hardware store and just about anything else you can imagine. There was some road construction requiring us to wait twenty minutes, but we were blessed by having this lovely young lady keep us under control. Soon after this I saw one huge black bear along the side of the road. He or she didn't want to pose for my camera, so you'll have to take my word. Then it was time for lunch so along comes ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada jstephensca... to be warm or cold, or sunny or rainy. Just one of those days where the temperature fluctuated from about 45- 73 degrees and at times was raining with thunder and occasionally sunny. We stopped at a museum here in Fort Nelson, Fort Nelson just recently became a city and prior to the 1980's was just kind of here. No real businesses and just considered a unincorporated village. They didn't even get plumbing and refrigeration until the 50's ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada kayaker902... from the wedding turned to our advantage as the weather improved, and we were able to enjoy our reentry into the Rocky Mountains. Our goal for the day was the Liard Hot Springs at mile 477, with an adjoining campground. Unlike the modern facility at Miette Hot Springs, where the sulfur is removed from the water and it is then chlorinated, Liard Hot Springs remains quite close to its natural state, with a strong smell of sulfur. A boardwalk through marsh and forest glen ...
Fort Nelson, British Columbia, Canada keralajs... ultimate job-caring for 150 dogs! She showed me the whole operation, the females behind the fence, the males, the new puppies prancing about, the even newer puppies, eyes still shut and mom guardedly letting me pet them. As I was about to leave the puppy area, one dog started to howl. Soon, almost all 150 dogs were howling. Incredible joy in their voices. It's like they were each clamoring to say how cool life is, how great it is to be alive.
