We're in it for the long haul...the 6 P philosophy
Well we survived our first long haul flight with a toddler but we nearly didnt survive the Air New Zealand check in counter. They totally grilled us on our visas for USA making us get another one for Zach online before we could check in, weighed every bag we had including hand luggage and made us move stuff from bag to bag at the counter when we …

Poorly Mickey Moo xx
The motel we were staying at was in Chinatown which was a bit of a walk from the bus station. As Mick had no energy I wasn't quite sure if he’d even make it as he was getting slower and slower and increasingly closer to the floor. I had visions of him just keeling over which would have been a nightmare but bless his heart he made it after a …
A step back in time for a night
Arriving from the UK and having a 24 hour stopover in LA while waiting for Ron to arrive from Cuenca, I decided to try out the Travelodge this time (we'd used Best Western on our way through LA to Cuenca before and while we were really happy with them, I wanted to be closer to the airport this time).
Having called the hotel from the …

TravelPod Member ReviewsTravelodge Hotel at LAX Los Angeles
We made it to our 'vintage' ( insert old) hotel the LAX travel lodge where we checked into our room called ' the sleepy den'. Turns out this room is covered head to toe with the old cartoon travel lodge mascot blue teddy bear. They were all over the curtains, the bed spreads and the shower curtain.
The best thing I can say about the hotel is that it was clean and only 5 mins from LAX. Being next to a 24 hr Denny's was also very convenient.

I was really impressed - courtesy bus met me at the airport after a free call to let them know I'd arrived. The hotel is great - very retro and while there's no lift to the first floor rooms, the place is clean and has a sort of oldy worldy charm. Staff were helpful and polite and as I was meeting my partner the following day I made use of the free shuttle to the airport to meet him. Breakfast, although selfservice was plentiful and with a good choice, although I'm not sure whether this would be the case if you were a late riser. There are plenty of places to eat close by.

Historical Traveler Reviews Travelodge Hotel at LAX Los Angeles
Wonderful experience !!!!
Booked online for the price and was very pleasantly surprized. The staff gave us a 110% effort re. arranging tours, early check-in and late check out, the shuttle and arranging tours. After coming from the frigid East Coast the wonderful tropical gardens and heated swimming pool were an unexpected luxury. Extremely well set up for the traveller and you cannot beat the price.
PS a lost clothing item was promptly mailed to me.
Ok, handy
This hotel was handy for its proximity to the airport, and their shuttle picked us up from the car rental drop off and dropped us off at the airport (a 24hr service). The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. However, getting to the room at night involved walking through the dark gardens and pool area. Breakfast is included but only served from six, the hotel was unable to provide anything for us for our 4am departure. For the English out there, coffee but no tea in the rooms!
Overall reasonable.
Flowers in an Industrial Area
As you can see, I'm a "local". I chose Travelodge-LAX because of the rate and so I knew I wasn't going to be treated like the King -- but Travelodge surprised me! I stayed three nights in late October, 2003.
The staff went above and beyond, the room was huge, the bed comfortable and Denny's prices were very reasonable. The only down checks were very minor. First the hotel is in the midsts of an industrial area -- there is virtually nothing within walking distance in the way of things to do. The Hotel advertised cable TV, and I guess I've been spoilt by DirecTV. There were 22 channels and only a few that I found interesting enough to watch. However, overall it was a 5-star experience and I plan to repeat my mini-vacation in July 04.
Travelodge at LAX was ok
We went to the travelodge LAX for 1 night before going to hawaii. It was a nice place to stay overnight. No bugs like there was the next night at the days inn we picked. They just made me mad because I had a coupon for $5.00 off and they said I already had a discounted rate on the internet so they wouldn't take the coupon. The lady on the internet said to give them the coupon when I got there, then they wouldn't take it so it ****** me off. Our room was pretty big and nice but a little older but it was clean and that is all we care about, lol. There is a Dennys next door to eat at if you get in late like we did.
Did I stay in the same hotel?NO
Had booked and prepayed to stay here 12/09/03.Arrived and could not believe this was the same place I had looked at on the website.Very old and rundown.Helpful check in staff but the room had an overpowering smell of bleach and the aircon was unbearably noisy. The room was clean but very old furnishings and no soundproofing.Every few seconds a plane would roar overhead on its way into LAX.Having stayed in Travelodges in England this was not what I expected. We had pre-payed on travelodge website and if we had arrived before 4.00 pm we could have cancelled free of charge. However due to the long queues at Dollar rent a car we did not arrive until 5.30.We had planned this trip for 2 years and this is not what I wanted our first night to be like.So we just got in the car and checked into the Raddison down the road.Next morning on our way out of town I stopped to see if maybe I had over reacted.Maybe a little but I would still not go back.Decided to try the free breakfast as we had paid for it.It was O.K.but a very small room with only 2 tables outside to sit at.Do not mean to be too negative but this is how I saw it.Lost $64.00 but did not mind
Character, charm and gardens
Travelling to and from Australia, we had 12 hour layovers (thank you frequent flyer miles *!@) in LA. This particular Travelodge offers a day rate of $46.00 to stay from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. This hotel is dated, but has a charm of its own with gardens everywhere throughout the complex. My children were looking forward to staying there again on our trip back to the States. It is definitely NOT your cookie cutter chain hotel which is probably why the kids were so enchanted by it and remembering the names of the plants and trees that are posted about.
Living in the midwest, we really don't get a chance to see Pygmy Palms!
The staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for a shower, nap and swim!
Helpful staff, close to airport
Stayed two nights on July 2003 and one night in August. Arrived after a long journey and were picked up quickly by the shuttle bus, very reassuring. The staff were very helpful in arranging the booking, ordering taxis etc. The place has a slightly run-down feel but has a character we didn't come to appreciate unit we stayed at other chain hotels. The balconies, pool and low-rise buildings are a plus. Noise from planes taking off and ancient air conditioning - a minus. Good size rooms, clean, well furnished. Not keen on Denny's next door so there's a long way to anywhere else. A one off and worth a visit.
Clean, comfortable
Our stay was great. The room was clean, the breakfast was also very good. Only one problem : i forgot my scarf in the room and asked the hotel to keep it since i had planned to go back to LA 2 weeks later. I think they kept it but the person in charge of the 'lost & found' is never there...
Reasonable
Stayed here in mid-May, 2003 for an overnite to and from Hawaii. The hotel is dated and looks like it could have been used in an old Elvis film. The rooms were quiet and had recently been refurbished. Staff was terrific and the shuttle drivers helpful and on-time. For the price it's worth an overnight stay.
Clean comfortable Travelodge
We stayed for three days and then another stay of one day. The shuttle was great and took us to another hotel to meet our coach tour. We stored luggage whilst we were on the coach tour. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok, the pool was heated and the staff were very professional. I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for clean reasonably priced accommodation close to LAX. We booked through the Travelodge Website prior to leaving Australia and everything worked really well.
