    And we're off!!

Finally after months of planning the day has arrived and we're off to the airport.

We agreed 6pm as our departure time. My packing had been done a couple of days ago. Hazel was just starting the shoe debate and as she lined up the final nine options declared that her suitcase was already full and that another 3kg of bits were going in my …

... The church called Hallgrímskirkja, is a Church of Iceland (Luthern) church. It was a very beautiful building - it is unfortunate that we did not have time to go inside.

On the way to the airport we stopped by what is probably the most famous tourist site in Iceland - the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is located near the airport, and is actually formed from the runoff from a geothermal power plant (Iceland gets all of its ...

The incredible landscapes of the country were showcased only a few kilometers from the city. Amazingly we reached a lake, and on the far side spotted two groups of people swimming - it might have ...

... a little trouble with getting the right bus to Stoke Newington where we were staying. There were changes in routes due to road works and a fire (somewhere in London), so even the locals and one particular bus driver seemed to be frustrated with the situation. After a couple of hours of asking for directions, checking maps and much “discussion” between us, we came across a lovely local lady who was equally frustrated ...

... headed back to the house early so we could back and try to do a bit of planning for Portugal, intending not to have any dinner as we’d eaten enough for lunch, but around 9pm Mikey said he was peckish, so we ducked down to the corner for an Indian curry take away! Quite appropriate really for our last night in London!

We bid farewell to Nicola, Michael and their little son Connor after breakfast. They said we were smashing guests and would welcome us back any time!! ...
